  1. The ones with voice-overs are problably Police Interceptors and Road Wars since we have those as well on Belgian tv. I for one can't stand shows like Flashpoint and Rookie Blue. I prefer cop shows with real police officers like COPS and, as Jam said, without all the romance. I also like documentaries like Drugs Inc. which follow law enforcement (DEA, sheriff's offices,...) in their battle against narcotics.
  2. I don't know what it is but to me, the DSF model just seems too angular and toylike. Nice work though.
  3. I'll have you know, the FN Herstal Group owns Winchester and Browning and is one of the largest leaders in small arms manufacturing. They are known for their quality weapons, which are used by over 100 countries, including the US. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_Herstal). I have first hand experience with the FN GP.
  4. Are you using ENB series by any chance? Also, please read this first (http://www.lcpdfr.com/forum-20/announcement-5-need-support-read-this-first/) and post your diagnostic report.
  5. What did you do with those PS2's? Bake waffles with them? I've had my playstation 2 for over 10 years and it still runs perfectly whenever I'm in the mood for some vintage gaming.
  6. Although it might seem unfortunate now to leave highschool behind, you'll gain new friends and take on new challenges in life. With age comes experience and knowledge. I'm nowhere near the man I was four years ago and honestly, I wouldn't want to go back. I for one can't wait to graduate at my university in a few weeks time after four hard years of studying. There's no doubt I'll miss the life on campus, the partying and living independantly. However, starting my police academy training is something I look forward to and wouldn't want to miss for the world. I too have lost many friends on the way but it's this dream of mine that has kept me going. I hope to make many new friends in the academy. I'm sure there's a future you dream of as well. Always try to set goals in life and work towards achieving them. It will make your time/life far more meaningful and rewarding. As for slowing down time, I'm afraid that's not really possible. As wmai said, time flies, especially when you're having a good time. Try to make the best out of everything and always try to follow your dreams. Too many people out there are doing jobs they hate because they dropped out of school. Remember that you'll spend most of your life working. I sure as hell want to do something I enjoy doing and take great pride in.
  7. 1)Though I do understand your point, that does seem to be different out here. Police are required by law to respond to every call and if negelected, you can sue them. If I understand you correctly, you mean you can't sue police for failing to protect you, right? 2)Again, you make a valid point. Apart from some special proactive units, police do indeed respond to crimes instead of preventing them. However, I doubt some armed civilians will be of more value when such a shooting happens. That is of course unless you arm every single individual. Out here, police have very good response times since we have about 373 police officers per 100,000 people while the US has got 256 LEO's per 100,000. We are a small country as well which benefits those response times greatly. As I said, when those times start to drop, I'm sure a lot of civilians will want to take matters into their own hands as well and demand more lenient gun laws. But for now, the police is doing a great job protecting us against crime. Lately though, budget cuts have taken effect which could mean bad news. 3) You're both absolutely right about Morgan. He is a perfect representation of what I called anti-gun fanatics. He also abuses facts to support his statements. He doesn't respect the fact that the US has got a gun culture. He tries to compare gun crime in the UK with the US, something you simply can't do as I saw in multiple classes of criminology. When you put a Morgan type next to his complete opposite, being Jones, you aren't going to have much of a debate.
  8. 1) That seems to be different in the USA then. LEO's in my country are sworn to protect and serve the public from all harm. That includes preventing crimes from happening or responding to them as they happen. This is proven by the fact that we have proactive units like the anti-banditism units who patrol sensitive areas in unmarked cars. Investigating the crime after it happens is primarily a task for detectives over here. 2) Exactly. Throwing with statements without proper arguments is pointless. As to taking guns away, I don't think any law will be able to do so since the total amount of privately owned guns lies between 270,000,000 and 310,000,000 in the USA. That is an astronomical amount which will never be completely controlled, laws or no laws. 3) I respected Jones before that debate, despite his controversial views. However, after that debate, I lost all that respect. He just spewed out facts and figures to support his statements without even letting Morgan speak or try to contradict his views. Morgan didn't scream at all. It was Jones who couldn't control himself and had no answer to some of the arguments Morgan made so he started shouting and calling Morgan names. Too bad, since Jones does have some valid points but he doesn' know how to make them without shouting and screaming.
  9. Gun control debates tend do get out of hand very quickly unfortunately. On one side we have Alex Jones types who see a government conspiracy in everything, abuse statistics and facts to prove a false point and would rather die before handing over their guns to a "tyrannical government". On the other side we have pro gun control fanatics who also abuse the facts and don't seem to realise that criminals will always get their hands on weapons, with our without strict gun laws. Remember the Piers Morgan debate where Mr. Jones called Morgan a "redcoat"? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtyKofFih8Y) Luckily though, there are still some people left who are willing to have a proper debate with decent arguments. This community has proven that. In my humble opinion, it's only logical gun control is mentioned on a topic about a highschool shooting.
  10. Actually, you can play Xbox360 games ON your laptop or pc:
  11. Defending gun ownership with saying that they are needed to fight the government is a bit outdated. We don't live in the 18th century anymore and we should behave as such. Also, psychiatric health care is very important to prevent some of these shootings from happening. However, a lot of countries including Belgium and the US have got psychiatric care systems which do not provide enough protection. And to say that people kill people is only partly true. I live in a country with very strict gun laws which results in very few gun related crimes as there are very few weapons in distribution. In the rare occasions that a gun is used, it originates from foreign countries, particularly the old Soviet Union, where you can buy a AK-47 for 100 euros. Up until now, the police have handled these rare incidents on their own just fine. For example, when my house got broken into, the police responded within 7 minutes. I doubt I could have done anything more in that time. That being said however, I have nothing against private gun ownership for self defense, stored in a proper manner like you said so. When a burglar decides to break into a house, it's his decision to do so and he should face the consequences. Unfortunately, where I live, self defense seems not to exist as we have numerous cases were people get convicted for defending themselves. For example, a 70 year old men got convicted for shooting a robber who broke into his jewelry store for the sixth time. Finally, I do understand the concerns of Americans. A lot of police forces seem to be forced into budget cuts which drastically influences their capacities. (For example, the Detroit police:
  12. Nice video! I have had the pleasure of responding code 3 in unmarked detective vehicles during my internship and it surprised me how many drivers panic when an emergency vehicle approaches, especially on highways. Also, I don't know emergency response driving rules in the US but in my country, officers are advised not to force civilians to break traffic laws in order to get through, for example at a red light.
  13. I've always been a Playstation man as i grew up playing on my old Playstation 1. I've never owned a XBOX in my life so I can't judge their gaming platform. Having said that, it would surprise me as well if Microsoft took such a huge gamble (risking the loss of a large amount of gamers) without being confident that Sony will make a similar move with the Playstation 4. If this does turn out to be the case and Microsoft took these decisions completely on its own, Sony will no doubt have a great advantage of which it could benefit greatly. In my opinion, Microsoft has made a PR and marketing blunder with different people saying different things about the XBOX One. Let's hope Sony stays calm and keeps the focus on gaming instead of creating a family entertainment system.
  14. Very nice. Do a lot of American law enforcement agencies use the Whelen 295 as well?
  15. As Belgium is a neighbouring country, I've already been in Normandy and going there again in a few weeks. It's very touching and gut-wrenching when you walk on the American Cemetery and Memorial and thousands of graves of young American soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. The United States has indeed got its problems nowadays and like Strike stated, the operation was indeed far from perfect. Nonetheless, as a Belgian, I say thank you to all the Americans out there for having fought so fiercely for the liberty we enjoy today. I'll certainly never forget.

  17. I use a PS3 controller as well in conjunction with Xpadder and it works flawlessly. It let's me map certain keys to certain buttons. For example, I use my D-pad buttons to control the siren features and airhorn. I couldn't disagree more. Know that ELS v7 is by far the most realistic and authentic lighting/siren mod I know for any game. I have first hand experience with several Federal Signal products (such as Federal Signal Vama, Vista and Arjent) and ELS v7 just nails every detail regarding the lighting stages and siren control. I dare any of you to make a more realistic product. The controls do indeed take some time to get used to but the learning curve is well worth it.
  18. Saw this heartbreaking picture on the news today and I thought I should share it. As a possible future K9 officer myself, this picture struck me in particular. I am a dog owner as well so I know the bond a handler shares with his dog. Let nobody say that dogs can't feel the emotions of their masters. Figo has been retired from the police force and will reside with the family of the fallen officer for the rest of his life. "A heartbreaking photo from the funeral of Kentucky K9 officer Jason Ellis is proof of the incredible bond between police dogs and their partners. The 33-year-old officer was killed in a suspected ambush on Saturday and laid to rest soon after, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. Ellis' canine partner, Figo, who worked with him to find drugs and illegal substances, kept a vigil beside his casket. Many K-9 officers attended the funeral, and their dogs could be heard barking from their cruisers before the funeral." 20. Nice, I didn't know the KLPD had a Lenco Bear.
  21. I'm sorry if my post came across as intolerant. I was referring to the bad apples who make the entire community look bad. One of my friends in my criminal justice class is Iranian so I was definitly not generalizing. The same can be said about extreme right groups who make our community seem racist and intolerant.
  22. Although I have no problem with gay marriage, adoption is indeed another issue. I'm not 100% against it but I do have some serious reservations. For one, you're absolutely right when you refer to the potential bullying. Also, growing up without a mother could, in my opinion, potentially have some sort of effect on the child. Regarding the Islamic immigrants, gay bashing is definitely not the only issue. For example, when I'm at the university and decide to go out with some friends, the girls are always shouted at on the street by immigrants from Turkey, Morocco, etc. And that's when we are in a mixed group. I can't imagine what they go through when walking the streets by themselves. It doesn't end there though. In certain areas of Brussels, police, EMT's and firefighters get stones thrown at their heads for doing their job. I know some police officers and detectives who avoid parking in those neighbourhoods in fear of getting their car destroyed. Funny thing is, when police do react to those kind of incidents, they get complaints about racism and excessive force. I'm in no way a racist but things are getting out of control. A solution would be to deport convicted foreign criminals and let them serve their sentences in their home country. That would weed out the bad apples and free about 45% of our prison capacity. I know that Germany has a lot of Arabic immigrants as well. Is it equally bad? Sorry to go a bit of topic here but I had to get that off my chest. @Dippa: Being gay is definitely not a choice. And what about people who decide not to procreate? I'm an agnostic so I believe in the evolutionary theory as well. However, having a child is, in my opinion, more than just passing on your genes or "genetic egoïsm" as my anthropology professor so elegantly put it. Nature didn't intend for couples to decide to not have any children. Though, they can live in perfect hapiness after having made that decision. The same goes for gay couples.
