  1. I can think of no reason why we should ban gay marriages. Belgium was one of the first countries to allow gay marriages though so it's not really an issue here. However, we do have an increased frequency of gay bashing by Islamic immigrants.

  3. I completely agree. I certainly wouldn't run towards a guy swinging a machete or a crowbar with just my pepper spray. Keep in mind that emotionally unstable people form a real threat to both themselves and officers. Besides, some people are immune to both pepper spray and tasers, certainly when under the influence of certain substances like amphetamines. Also, in Belgium, police officers only draw their weapon if it's absolutely necessary. They know that, each time they draw their weapon, a thorough investigation is launched by internal affairs. Even when the weapon wasn't fired. During that time, the officer is temporarily inactive until the investigation has been concluded. That prevents officers from drawing their weapon when it's not necesarry. To my knowledge, we almost never have any unjustified shootings by police since officers receive the proper training. In my opinion, firearms are a necessary evil for police officers. The advantages of having armed police outweigh the disadvantages that sometimes come with it.
  4. First of all, my heart goes out to the vicitm's family and friends. To be slaughtered like an animal at home is just horrendous. In my humble opinion though, this incident proves yet again that, in this day and age, a police officer on the beat requires a firearm of some sort. Be it open carry or locked away in the trunk of his cruiser. I am in no way a rightwing gun nut and the UK has indeed got a very low gun crime rate but the fact is that British officers stand powerless during such incidents untill an ARV arrives. Imagine being an unarmed officer and witnessing such a horrible attack but knowing you can't do anything about it, other than wait for an ARV to come. I'm certainly relieved I'll get to carry a firearm once I hit the streets. You never know what you'll potentially run into when responding to a call.
  5. Not a fan of the controls. Seriously?- I have to press a button 3 times to get all my lights on? Not a fan at all. And alot of the button combos do other things with LCPDFR (ex. Ctrl + M = send paramedics, H = Headlights) I use an XBox controller so sirens are a pain too. Sometimes cars don't even get out of the way.
  6. Or just download this: http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/fearless-pedestrians-f16141 I haven't tried that out yet though.
  7. Just delete the entire line regarding "GunshotFired". It's what I did to prevent peds from running away when I honk my horn. I just removed the entire HonkHorn line and that seemed to work flawlessly. When I say the entire line, that means the word "GunshotFired" and everything that comes after it.
  8. Thanks. In the meantime, I'l try and search for a solution for the other XP users. Perhaps I can still manage to get it working on XP as well.
  9. I can confirm that ELS v7 does not work on XP or at least not on mine. I installed GTA IV on my laptop which runs Windows 8 and ELS v7 works fine on that machine. Perhaps there is still a solution to be found but for now, I'll switch to my laptop whenever I want to use ELS v7.
  10. Could you tell me what ASI loader and scripthook you are using? Also, do you use ENB? I know several other users are experiencing issues with ELS and XP. SInce you can get it to work on XP, we should be able to as well. You would help me out tremendously if we could find what is causing the problem.
  11. Any advice is appreciated. I do own a laptop with windows 8 but my desktop has always run XP. The problem is that you have to transfer all your programs and files to an external HDD and after the upgrade, reinstal everything. That's my main reason for not wanting to upgrade since I have a lot of games which are modded and took a huge amount of time to do so. Also, I don't know if all my components are even Windows 7 compatible. Seeing that you were part of the testing team, do you think there is a fix for this problem? Could I or the testing team for example get in contact with Lt. Caine and ask for a solution?
  12. Greetings, First of all , I would like to state that asking support is something I rarely do. However, like many others, I installed ELS v7 today after reading through the enitre PDF document. Everything was set up accordingly, including setting the status of the vehicles to "on" but unfortunately nothing seemed to work. I already had the most recent scripthook and Asi loader (Xliveless). Now, I came to the conclusion that it has to be something with Windows XP compability since I ran ELS v6 and other .asi mods just fine, hence this topic. Several other users have also already reported issues with running ELS v7 on XP. If any other users are using Windows XP and are experiencing issues or no issues whatsoever, please report this here so we can work this out. Finally, if any tester or developer of ELS v7 knows of a possible compability issue, please let me know. Perhaps a solution can be found (other than upgrading to windows 7) since all of us would like to get our hands on this fantastic product. Kind regards, Kjel0112
  13. Indeed. Everything is installed and set up correctly but it doesn't seem to work. For the record, ELS v6 worked just fine on my computer so I'm suspecting as well that it is XP causing the problem. I so hope this can be solved...
  14. Could be. I'm using XP as well and I can't get it to work too. I've contacted NicolaiB about this issue as he was the main tester. Seems like other users are having trouble with this as well. I hope this can be sorted out since I really want to get my hands on this fantastic product.
  15. Like I said in other topics as well, I think ELS v7 is incompatible with Windows XP. I too have installed and set up everything correctly and read through the entire PDF but it still doesn't work. Could a tester or a developer confirm that it is Windows XP that is causing ELS v7 not to work?
  16. Very nice guide. Although I realize this isn't a support thread, I'd just like to ask if ELS v7 supports Windows XP. I ran ELS v6 just fine but I can't seem to run v7. Other users have reported this as well.
  17. Okay BIG question no one has addressed yet.
  18. Could anyone confirm if ELS v7 is working with Windows XP please? I've read through the entire PDF all morning and set up everything in the .ini file. However, when ingame, the lights light up but I do not get any response from any ELS key whatsoever (including Ctrl+M). Before anyone asks, I already tried replacing my scripthook and ASI loader with the one provided and it didn't help. Seems like a few other users have been reporting this as well.
  19. This is by far the greatest and most realistic emergency lighting system anyone has ever created for a game. The sheer amount of details and options is astonishing. I'll be sure to test it out properly once I get through the PDF and understand everything there is to know. Massive thanks to Lt. Caine, Sam, LMS and the testers. Without you guys, the entire GTA IV police community wouldn't be where it is now.
  20. Just incredible. A massive thank you to Lt. Caine (and of course the others who were involved in this) for his work and contribution to the community.
  21. I hope that's sarcasm...
  22. Why would you want a police uniform if you're not even a real LEO? Keep in mind that most official uniforms can only be bought at "cop shops", reserved for police officers and police cadets only. At least that's the case in my country. If it's for a costume party or something similar, I'm sure you can buy non-official generic police uniforms on the internet and at certain stores.
  23. So much terror plots happen without the news and the general public even knowing it. A couple of months ago, I attended a guest lecture by the federal prosecutor who is an expert on terrorism. From what I can derive out of his lecture, potential terrorists are stopped on a weekly basis thanks to intelligence and police agencies. He discussed several examples where our Belgian intelligence/police agencies shared information with the CIA, MI6, the French DGSE and the German BND. That information eventually led to the capture and/or neutralization of several terrorists plotting attacks on, for example, the NATO building and even police academies. And that's for a small country like Belgium (we do have the NATO and EU headquarters in Brussels though), imagine for a country like the US. What we will never know though is if these potential plots would actually have been realised as well. Nevertheless, you can't take the risk seeing public safety is involved.
  24. Terrible news... My heart goes out to the victims and their famillies and friends. Things like this are happening too often lately...
