  1. 1. Good pointing out about lawsuits. You're right, people rarely sue the government here (and win rare too), so cops don't have to keep that in mind. 2. That's a completely different situation you're describing here. An armed robber firing at people will meet SOBR and their 5,45 bullet in a minute. I'm speaking about a situation when danger is not that imminent. A real-life story too: an officer armed with AK-74 was approached by a person with a knife. The officer told him to keep 2 meter distance, he disobeyed, then the officer fired a warning shot and shot him in the leg. He immediately dropped the knife and lost all the will to resist. 3. Well, if that's enough reason for you to use deadly force, I understand that. Here if suspect is trying to use his body as a weapon he'll get a good kick in a face or a legshot leaving him alive. (I understand that in the US it will cause a lawsuit. I'm just telling how in other places things happen)
  2. To answer you question I'm able to provide you with multiple links to the news articles describing how Russian police force used weaponry to shoot a leg or arm to disable suspects. Another story whether they were armed or not, of course. But here they almost never shoot to kill (at least they used to). Right now I'm contacting officers I know, so soon I might be able to provide your with quotes from official documents regarding firearms usage. And secondly, I'm somehow agree with Hystery. I'm in a way affiliated with the law enforcement, but I cannot say "I will kill anyone who tries to get my gun". (I don't have a gun, of course). It's difficult to explain, especially if you know English as bad as I do, but Hystery is right speaking about cultural differences. I remember my dialog with a BPD officer two years ago about the death of an unarmed civilian. He said something like "Well, it's sad, but it comes with the job". It's a different attitude towards human life, I guess. It neither good or bad, it's just how it is. Wow, I stranded so much away from the topic. Well, I think it was partially justified, at least a criminal with a cop's gun is a clear danger. Nothing compared with killing of unarmed people.
  3. Because there's a whole lot of important things to do, and I'm too lazy besides people here are nice too
  4. After all I read about how much British love spanking, they suddenly want to ban it! :D I've never been hit as a child, and I grew up.. Well, let's skip this part. Spanking (or its absence) has nothing to do with it, I'm just a bad person by nature :( However I feel there must be some freedom in parenting including spanking too. Just as Pavelow ans Hystery said, when it turns into beating, here comes the law. Travelling with this speed soon even berating a child will become illegal (or other restrictive measures. For modern kids turning the Internet of is an equivalent for a torture)
  5. I really hate when people say "that's everywhere" or "everybody does that" because that's not an argument at all. A common practice back in the day was to burn heretics, to segregate people, to start wars when you feel the need. Hey, even corruption can be waived away by saying "every cop on earth does it". I agree sometimes the law is too soft and the suspect is too untouchable. You may feel the need to break him by all costs. But that's the wrong feeling, guys. Don't know whether you're aware of this or not, but the US has really liberal criminal procedure. Here in Russia you can't frisk a guy without two witnesses and a written protocol. You can't put cuffs on a guy without notifying your superior in the written form. There's a complicated and a detailed law saying how you must process a suspect, and even a slightest mistake makes whole case crippled. In the States it's really easy to deal with suspects and it gives you much more space. I don't think American police can justify those illegal tactics.
  6. There's no absolutely good place on Earth but Iceland, probably. In the US the bad things become public real quick, in my country, for example, it would be very hard to draw attention to something like this. Even Old Good Europe has many flaws, even France.
  7. A bit more than 48 hours. I used to work nights 2 years ago, and that day I had to work the shift then attend some business during the day and work again. God I was messed up. I like sleeping, really.
  8. Shame, really. Well, my offer still stands if you need some fresh air :D
  9. I'm thinking of launching Tours of Freedom for Europeans to Russia. Here you can say what you want, do what you want, offend anyone you want, break all the laws, beat up some cops, drink, smoke, shoot -- and that all for only $999,99! Seriously tho, I know there's a nice Swedish dish called Negerbol. I enjoyed it when I was in Stockholm. I guess it's outlawed now too?
  10. well, police don't deal with a gun-wielding serial terrorist child rapists on every call. Imagine: a cop responds to a call and meets an angry and dirty-mouthed lady who begins to insult him and screaming at him. Being a rude and hard person this cop goes angry, hits her, cuffs her, and so on. This may be not against the law but it certainly looks bad. I respect a cop who can smile, calmly say some words, and resolve the incident peacefully. Police if here to prevent crimes and protect and serve, so no need to get violent at everyone. Unfortunately, many officers are violent and brutal men, and never tend calm to insults, according to my experience.
  11. I once ironed my clothes and got a nice haircut to impress a girl but few hours later learned that she was sleeping with drunkard and a truant. Guess that makes me gay...
  12. I wanted to study radiation and space, then to build railway bridges, now I'm a half-ass criminal lawyer who assists the government with oppressing people. Was it worth growing up?...
  13. Real word suspects will slow down eventually to take a leak, refill their car, have a hamburger, GTA IV suspects won't ;) Gameplay-wise it will be the same red blip on he radar, which you'll have only to follow...
  14. Oh, hello, CK, I've just started to miss your topics :D To hit a defenseless lady or to restrain a person from dangerous conduct? A big difference here. I call a guy who hits a girl to show his strength a coward. A police officer or another authority figure can do whatever he legally entitled to to prevent danger to others, disregarding the gender, age, etc. (However, if he shows some discretion here, I'd call him a good man. Why shoot a girl if you can just calm her down, then restrain. Why shoot a kid if you can reason with him. And so on) Speaking about legal boundaries, by Russian laws cops can't use firearms against pregnant women.
  15. No problem lol, glad to be of use
  16. I sort of work with them. Nope. That's LED lightbar, the one on the pic is not LED. The on on the pic is Russian-made and comparably older model. Again, this is an old lightbar. And the vehicle is definitely not a Ford or Mercedes, it's a Volga.
  17. Well, we don't really know much about lightbar models here, it's not like in the US, where everyone know what is Federal Signal or Argent or something. If you ask a cop what lightbar it is he'll probably tell you to get lost, lol. This one is an old one, like the vehicle itself. Reminds me of SGU 120-3P. Try this website, they have many ligtbar pics with model names and info. http://www.signal-msk.ru/catalog/2/6.html
  18. Oh, well, I see. /still doesn't work for me :/
  19. If my memory serves me right, in 1.0 there was a feature that allowed you to mark any NPC as 'wanted' and start a chase on him/her immediately. I even used it twice on some crazy cabbies that hit me, by pressing Alt+E (if I remember right). But it doesn't seem to work now, I press Alt+E when targeting a ped and nothing happens. I check .ini file, found something like "start chase on ped", but that doesn't seem like what I was looking for. The reason why I bring it up is that I frequently being killed at traffic stops. Having literally no way to return fire I tried at least to mark drivers as wanted so other cops would give chase.
  20. You can only use different textures for police cars models. You have Police (Vapid Cruiser), Police2 (Police Patrol in game), Noose Cruiser, Noose patriot, FBI. All those cars have 4 liveries (used to have, at least, they say you can have more now). using '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> you can assign a different livery to different city area. Example from my game: Police Cruiser: Livery 1 LCPD, assigned to Algonquin Livery 2 Northern Gardens police, assigned to Bohan Livery 3 LCPD HWY, assigned to highways. Livery 4 Alderney State police, assigned to Alderney. Same with other cars. So basically you download a car model you like, when you find textures which suit the model (I got mine from several different car mods), and then apply to each area.
  21. Nice to hear it! You're great, keep doing the good things :) Oh, just a van or two and a Mule maybe, they're good for moving illegal goods and corpses inside :D
  22. I'm not. What for. If I ever meet a girl I like, a stamp in my passport won't make me feel better towards her. However, it will let her take my property upon a divorce. So no thanks.
