Wallmart And Politics
I don't mind having a civilized argument with anyone on anything. I just argued with Hystery with no issues. We simply had a disagreeance in views. Why wasn't I able to do this with TheChef? Because of what I just posted above.

I'd also like to mention that I'm black. Since the flag represents such racism and hate, why am I not offended? Maybe because it doesn't represent racism and hate? Maybe that's just what racist bigots use the flag to represent?

Wallmart And Politics
Depending on your location, I'd say yes. Based on past experiences and witnesses of similar situations, some people would state that it's terrible to wave such a flag and keep moving. Some would stand around and take pictures. Some would call the police and report terrorism. Some would even vandalize the flag, rip it apart, burn it, and replace it with an American flag. Depending on how pissed people are, some would even knock on the door and vandalize the home itself, but this is very unlikely. Most likely, people would just take pictures, say it's terrible, call the cops, and keep driving. How the police would handle the situation, I have no clue.

Seems as if you are still stuck in the 50's and 60's. Lynching doesn't happen anymore, if the media in the Netherlands didn't inform you all. If American citizens saw the ISIS flag waving in America, most would look, be in awe, say it's terrible, and keep driving. Some would take pictures, some would call the police. Some would even rip it down and burn or vandalize it. The police would probably conduct an investigation on the owner of the flag. You live in the Netherlands and you speak as if you know exactly how America works, and you don't. This is the problem I have with people residing outside of this country, yet they think they know what they're talking about. Some do, most don't. Hastings clearly knows what he's saying. It's a right, not a "what's right".

Wallmart And Politics
Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. If you want to wave the ISIS flag, then you have that right. I'd personally think you should be deported, and sent to Iraq while being barred from the country, and I'd hate you with a passion; but they should have that right. We don't decide whether or not people should possess certain rights based on if it's for a good cause. "Oh this flag represents genocide, it's banned". "Oh this flag represents extremism and hate, it's banned". It may be that way in Europe, but it's not that way here in America, and it shouldn't be. We can't be called "the land of the free" while removing people's basic right to wave a piece of cloth. The reason I include left-wing propaganda is because that's what it is. It's propaganda and lies by the liberal media. This is clearly an issue of liberalism and conservatism, because the liberals feel that this flag represents nothing more than hate. Conservatives feel that this flag represent heritage and history. I'm sick and tired of the left saying that the right forces their beliefs on people, yet what's happening now? The left is trying to force their beliefs on the entire nation. It's hypocritical and I won't just sit by and watch it happen. Conservatives do the same thing, and they are hypocrites as well. This isn't exclusive to one party or one side.

Because people are ignorant, and only know what they've been taught in school or from what they've heard on far left-wing media outlets. Doesn't matter what people think of the Confederate flag, you should have the right to wave whatever flag you want. That's what gives America its name. "The land of the free". How can we be called that when we are denying people a basic right to wave a damned flag? It doesn't make sense, and it's hypocritical. I support the existence of the Confederate flag, no matter what it represents. If you're an American and you think that the flag should be banned and made illegal, then you are a hypocrite.

Improper portrayal of the CSA in media
No, I would not assume that they were racist. I don't assume that anyone is racist unless they make it blatant. Waving a flag doesn't make anything blatant. Calling me a nigger makes it blatant. This is why I don't have any personal issues with the flag. To me, it's just a flag. I'd personally much rather wave an American flag, but it doesn't offend me.

Gay marriage now legal in all 50 states of the US.
Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!

Gay marriage now legal in all 50 states of the US.
This right here is the part that is confusing me. I have not looked at the links 13ubba provided yet, but if it's unconstitutional for them to deny gay marriage, isn't it also unconstitutional for them to allow gay marriage? This right here is the part I'm very dumbstruck at.

Okay that makes a little more sense. To clarify, the issue I'm having here is that I don't understand how the Supreme Court decision was constitutional. The whole system just seems like a big contradiction on itself. I'll do some reading on these cases and see what I can make of it. When I say that it's being forced on the entire nation, it has nothing to do with gay marriage itself. I'm not debating gay marriage, I'm not even debating to be honest. I'm questioning the courts authority to legalize gay marriage throughout the entire country, regardless of what the states want to do when it's not mentioned specifically in the constitution. But I'll do some research on what you've mentioned and I'll come back a little later and update my stance on the situation. The reason I am resistant is because I'm not one to accept something that I don't entirely understand.

He's saying that it is kind of silly for the government to sacrifice the happiness of the entire nation to please a very small minority on something. This isn't limited to gay marriage, this is anything. No need to take it personally. Sorry for double posts. On a cell phone and the multi quote option is not working.

Well actually when I do a bit of research, denying someone the right to marry or marriage period isn't specifically mentioned in the constitution. The 10th amendment says that powers not specifically listed in the constitution are reserved to the states and the people. Gay marriage is not specifically listed anywhere in the constitution, so the decisions should have been left up to the states and the people of those states. Rather than the federal government force it upon everyone. I don't care what the constitution says, I support enforcing it. You are a member of our respected armed forces, I know you understand this. I could just be interpreting the 10th amendment completely incorrectly, but it early seems pretty straight forward. Marriage isn't mentioned in the constitution, so how can the Supreme Court interpret it? The government neither has the power to declare it legal or illegal, so in a sense I can agree that what they did is constitutional, but I just can't understand how it shouldn't have been left up to the states. States rights seem to be disappearing. "A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take everything you have". -Thomas Jefferson

America is known to be a nation of political correctness, especially with the left in office. Just be careful, we definitely don't want to hurt anyones feelings. That would be a serious disaster for our nation. What a joke. When I do research on the constitution, I can't find anything in relevance to marriage. Where did you find this information? I had to read it a couple of times to get it, but makes sense I guess. Even through all of that, I still think it would have been better for the states to decide as they have been. Guess not though. I just don't want an all-powerful government. Ah well, life moves on I guess. :P

Yes, I'm mad that the supreme court thinks that it can do whatever it wants. Wouldn't it be unconstitutional for the federal government to declare gay marriage illegal as well? Shouldn't the federal government just simply not be involved at all, and allow the states to decide?

Gay marriage now legal in all 50 states of the US.
I'm pretty sure the federal government doesn't have the power to do this. No where in the constitution is marriage mentioned, so this decision should have been up to the states. I'm not upset about the whole gay situation, I don't really care either way. If I'm understanding this correctly, I'm upset that the federal government overstepped its powers. The Constitution does not specifically mention marriage, so anything regarding it should have been left up to the states and the American people, not the federal government. The Tenth Amendment (Amendment X) to the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791.[1] It expresses the principle of federalism, which undergirds the entire plan of the original Constitution, by stating that the federal government possesses only those powers delegated to it by the Constitution. All remaining powers are reserved for the states or the people. In drafting this amendment, its framers had two purposes in mind: first, as a necessary rule of construction; and second, as a reaffirmation of the nature of the federal system.[2]
