Wichita Police Helicopter
Instead of the witch-hunt, could someone tell me exactly what the problem is here? I understand that the uploader didn't make the model, although as far as I am aware he made the skin. Could someone tell me who the original author of the model is?

Permissions?
Generally, as long as we don't get a takedown request from someone claiming to be (with proof) the original author or copyright holder, then you'll be okay. Things like this work on the basis that we assume you are acting in good faith and uploading files which you are allowed to and until someone demonstrates otherwise, you'll be okay. If you flat out tell us that you can't do it though, we can't in good conscience let you do it, as we know that you're not allowed to. I hope this cleared it up, although you might want to read up on the DMCA for a better understanding. Note though that the DMCA only covers the rights of the copyright holder. If someone makes a Dodge Charger mod and then someone else 'steals' it as the saying goes, then even the original author of the mod could not request its takedown under DMCA as Dodge has copyright over the Charger model. This is where we have an additional rule, imposed by us, that people who we deem to be 'original authors', can also request takedown of content. And yes, there are some people that seem to pride themselves on being the GTA modding police and going around making all sorts of accusations directed at content creators and directed at us. Indeed, some of these people favour (and in some cases actually run) closed systems where only content made by them or their friends would be allowed to be uploaded. The great thing about LCPDFR.com is that we allow anybody, normal member, tester, community team member, or developer, to upload to our database with absolutely no limits or restrictions imposed based on their status, who they know, post count, or anything else.

US, Taliban and the white flag?
"US Official: Ok, Abdul, we want to set up a democratic Afghanistan where freedom of religion is practised, violence is a thing of the past, you don't support terrorism and women are free to do anything that men are allowed to do and are respected as, you know, humans. Taliban official: Thanks for that, Duke. Well we want to set up a theocracy where anyone who doesn't believe in Allah has their head cut off, opposition is forbidden, women are treated worse than donkeys and we generally regress into the stone age (apart from AK47s and Toyota pickups of course). US Official: Er.. Taliban Official: ?? US Official: Well, thanks Abdul, see you at the next meeting in 2 months time."

Too much of the same thing.
Well that's the wrong distinction to make. At the end of the day we are all modders, just there are some people that model (as in make 3d models from scratch), there are some people that edit models (as in mix and match unlocked parts) and then there are people that texture (as in make textures to be applied to models), there are people that texture map (UV maps for peds, cars or whatever else), people like me that script, and then there's people that edit all of these too. Essentially we're all modders, except some of make stuff from scratch and some of us edit the stuff that the former group has made. The modding scene would be seriously dull without both groups. Imagine if only 3 people made car models, and they only ever made Canadian ones. You're really stuck if you want something even as mainstream as a LAPD model, or as niche as a Traill County, ND model. Fortunately, because it's not like that, we have both.

Too much of the same thing.
At the end of the day they're both modders. If you make something that somehow modifies the game, then you're modding it. And how can anybody complain that there is too much content available? Sure, a lot of it might be similar, but what's the problem? Maybe some person in France doesn't like one version of something but then likes the variant of it that somebody else made. What if in Texas there's a guy that doesn't like any of the Texas DPS cars he's seen and then on the last page, finds one that he does like. What it all boils down to is that you choose what is right for you. The bigger the selection, the more people that are accommodated. If there's nothing that you like amongst the 2000+ files we have, then that's where you either wait for or ask someone to make it, or you use some initiative and make it yourself. Nobody had made a mod where you could play as a cop in GTA. I'd been waiting for years, the closest thing we ever had was SA-MP. When GTA IV came out on PC and when I saw all these script mods and I saw how I could make scripts in .NET languages, I went ahead and gave it a go, and here we are.

Gay Marriage
Perhaps some more food for thought: I can understand why straight men (myself included) and indeed many gay men, probably don't like the idea of two men having anal sex. Indeed, some quick searching threw up this study (http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2011-10/iu-nsf101811.php) where anal sex was a less common activity between gay men as opposed to oral sex and kissing. On the contrary, anal sex is far more popular in heterosexual relationships and I'm sure that many women might actually prefer it to vaginal sex. For the straight men that oppose gay relationships, do you have the same level of hostility towards lesbian relationships? I can totally understand that you might not like homosexuality, and that's perfectly okay but think about this though; let's assume that if you like to look at pictures of woman, especially those in a state of undress as just about every straight man does, do you somehow become grossly offended if you look at a picture of two naked women alone in private, touching each other, kissing each other or actively having sex with each other? All of the listed situations have some sort of sexual connotation, however weak or broad it may be, therefore would it offend you to the point where you would only look at a picture of one naked woman? If not, why? Presumably because you're a straight guy and therefore you're attracted to it. Is it therefore right that you are hostile towards homosexual men but not homosexual women? Again, you don't have to like the idea of homosexuality, but that doesn't mean that it should be illegal or that homosexual people should be otherwise punished or treated differently. Two girls kissing might turn you on, but two guys kissing might make you sick - that's fine, but it's not fair to give the girls preferential treatment simply because you like it better, and it has been argued that lesbians do generally get better treatment than gay men do, and this is actually evident in many countries where the law might forbid sex between men but not women.

Certainly on behalf of the team here, your thanks is very much appreciated and that's exactly why we do this stuff.

Rocket launch live
The ISS is a really cool thing, but perhaps even cooler is the the collaboration that it develops and encourages between people. In a world where the West and East disagree and conflict so often, it's always nice to see American astronauts standing side by side with Russians, forming friendships and their governments actively supporting and promoting it.

Gay Marriage
No, because this is clearly the random forum where just about anything goes. There are, believe it or not, a number of people that like to express their political views and participate in debate. Indeed, debate is amongst the healthiest activities any human can participate in - it encourages thought, introduces you to other ways of thinking or looking at something and improves your general knowledge. We've had discussions and topics centred around gun control, elections, politics in policing, current events and political groups and conspiracies. In all of these cases there have been many people that have participated in the discussion, therefore clearly there are people that like being able to debate and discuss things other than LCPDFR and GTA modding, myself, a former political science student, very much included.

Well the Bible also says that if you break the Sabbath (Sunday), you shall be executed. Should we execute all the people that work on Sundays?
