vdH PoliceHelper 1.2.0 beta

Featured Replies

It's not like it should take forever, creator is pretty confident about releasing this week, but does not want to make it official as sometimes stubborn bugs and personal life can cause a lot of slowdown, and he does not want to feel forced in to releasing a product just because of a promise. He would rather release it with it working golden with 99% of the bugs ironed out, and just have the hidden ones to fix when it becomes used by so many.

Faracus is right. I'm a bit less confident about this week release as it turned out my girlfriend goes on some company camp not this but next weekend, so no scripting friday for me :D

For now mod looks pretty good. Most of issues has been resolved. There is one big problem left. Memory leaks (I think) in EFLC. I can't find what causes them for now. Maybe there is some that had similar problems with his mod and knows how to avoid this?

If the issue is EFLC specific are you unable to release it to regular IV users in the meantime?

Regards,

Aussie.

I'm not sure if I will be able to fix it for EFLC at all. It is playable but after some time game has problems with LOD and newly created peds behaviour, just like in BraveHearts script. We are trying to find reason for it. This may be error in my code, but may be also problem with other scripts trying to use peds/vehicles created by my script. That's why Makinofaman will try PoliceHelper only with LCPDFR and nothing else (I don't have time for longer gaming session).

But I'm still fixing and tweaking smaller issues for both GTAIV and EFLC nad still wait for reports about fixes in yesterdays version. EFLC issue is not holding the release as I still want to want at least day or two for feedback and as I said I don't know if I'll be able to fix it. You have to remember that this is my second mod. Tow script has 1200 lines of code, this one has over 6000! It's really hard for amateur like me (I'm not a programmer!) to deal with code that big :)

I agree. Since this addon/mod is free, (is it free? lol), i am willing to wait a while so all the bugs are out so it runs smoothly. If you don't know how to script a mod for a game, try it sometime. If you fail at it, then you know how hard it is to make the addon/mod work excellently. Take your time Abraxas.

Hey mate, it's all good, it was a question, no need to explain the delays, I'd prefer it to release soon, but at the same time, this is your second child, she's 6 pounds, your first was tiny compared to her, get her out in the world when she's good and ready, the less screaming, the less complaints from people right :).

Aussie.

That metaphor was really deep Aussie. I applaud you, lol

LOL, guys, take it easy. Unfortunately there are some new bugs that HAVE to be fixed and it's not that easy. Especially when it is 1AM and you are not that sober.

I am so looking forward to this mod. Bait car looks like it will be taking up most of my time, I'm gonna love that. People like you is the reason people like me love this game.

It's the end of the week and still no PoliceHelper so I owe you some explanation.

I have good and bad news. Bad news is that I won't be able to finish it this week. I still have to fix 3 serious bugs, which are:

- thief gets out of the baitcar when stopped by backup unit, regardless locked doors

- thief is stuck or drives into wall when near to some hideouts

- memory leaks in EFLC

So where are those good news? Here:

- it look like door lock bug is fixed but I have figure out if it is possible to keep thief in car when he tries to get out but shutdown feature was not triggered

- I have solution for stuck thieves, but I still have to test some hideouts and modify them. As a bonus I'll try to find some more cool hideouts ;)

- I've played for some time. Spawned about 12 roadblocks, requested 8 baitcars and no memory leaks. It's promising, but it still needs to be tested.

Problem is that bait car hideouts and door locks are now under construction, so I can't give testers version with possibly fixed leaks :) I hope I'll finish those fixes till monday and send new version to testers. Then after 2-3 days, if everything will be ok script will be released.

PS: I had first reports that it works well online :)

Im like an impatient kid just give me already i dont mind the bugs it just makes it funnier to watch:D
