Texture Loss Issues

Featured Replies

I've started having texture loss issues in my game. I am not sure what has been causing it but I feel like each time I start my game it's a different problem.

These are the issues I've been having:

  • Street signs/traffic lights appearing when I'm roughly 10 feet away.
  • Noticing trees/buildings/street signs popping up in the distance.
  • Sometimes the roads disappear or have very crappy textures.

This doesn't happen when I spawn any certain vehicle. Just seems to be happening in general.

As far as I remember, the only texture mods I have done is custom cars. (Below is the cars I have installed)

Here's some more information to help solve this. The following list are things I have already done to try and remedy this myself

  • Thought I had too many vehicles in Patchday20, so I moved some to Patchday19...didn't fix it.
  • Thought it was an issue with patchday20, moved it all to patchday 19...didn't fix it.
  • I have installed a custom game config, Heap Limit Adjuster and Pack File Adjuster. Didn't think those would help and I was right...it didn't fix it.

I'm all out of options besides making a new mods folder. But then if I add all my vehicles to the new mods folder and it still does this problem, I won't know what to do.

Update: I've came across other threads with people reporting similar problems. Seems like they all fixed it with new vehicles. I'm going to give that a try when I get on my computer later.

Inputs on what it could be are still welcome.

I had to knock my graphics settings down to make it stable. Even though I have a great computer and can run stock GTAV on ultra all day long, these mods just didn't seem to want to play nice

Yes I had a good friend of mine suggest that, but I ended up getting rid of the car packs I had and it fixed the texture issues.

OK my first suggestion would be to stop replacing vehicles like that. Albo Modding Folder allows you to place all vehicle files in one place, be those addons or replaces. That reduces the DLC load the game has to load since to search for your police cars, the game will have to open multiple archives. With this, only one archive is needed.

Secondly it seems your vehicles are too detailed. The problem is not too many cars. R* has inserted over 100 cars already aas DLCs and we have no issue. The issue is your vehicles are surpassing the hard limit of 25MB per vehicle. So I recommend you watch my video (link to post below) on how to fix those so called pop-ups and disappearing textures.

The solution is to downscale all heavy and unnecessary textures (like 4K textures on a stock GTA 5 carbine on the gun rack for example. Like seriously, who needs that...). And there is NO EXPENSE OF QUALITY. Unless you have a 4K setup and somehow manage to play LSPDFR without wanting to smash the PC... Either way, this solution allows you to choose what you want downscaled or not. If you want the police car's MDT to be Hi-Res then you don't resize the PC.png for example. Everything is explained in the video.

I only read this now. However if you want to keep using the vehicles you want (unless the model itself surpasses 25MB. That's a dead end) follow my suggestion. Now I don't have to restrict myself from using what I want.

Not to "hijack" the thread but I was having a similar issue here myself just recently. But only after I turned up my graphics. Despite having a decent system, after reading the goings on here, I figure an attempt at dialing it back may help. This happened while I was stopped here, but then only when I turned my camera at certain angles; was very odd.

There are some vehicle mods that are higher poly than others.  Higher poly = more resources the vehicle eats up.  It gets even worse if this vehicle spawns MULTIPLE times.  I've discovered that if you turn the graphics setting textures to medium, you'll never have this issue.  The problem with that, certain things such as the road will NOT look as good.  It really comes down to deciding what is more important, looks or playability.

As Malcolm said, if you have vehicles using 4k liveries, go to 2k, if possible or get a new car.  4k liveries can be a bit too much for some games.  I always go 2k just because it's easier to manage, and 4k is only for perfectionists.

Actually, dlcpacks don't have much of a difference.  I have MULTIPLE DLCPACKS filled with add-on cars and the only time I ever have texture loss is in the city.  In the county I can play for over two hours without issues.

In addition, Albo's modding folder still has a set limit of cars.  If you're like me and have far too many to count, they won't all fit in one dlcpack.  Personally, I think people give his dlcpack far too much credit when in reality all it does is let people be a bit lazier instead of using the content that is already there to be utilized.

yes like red stated , ive noticed this seems to be more about the liveries .. ALL of my packs use 4k skins so takes a heavy toll on system resources , take a look at the stock res of standard in game cars , its pretty freaking low .. too mitigate this issue , I suggest a simple lowering of the skins resolution, ive actually done this with my latest pack the "LSPD Pack" the skins inside of the regular YTD file are 2k, and then i have the  "hi ytd" which contains larger skins like the 4k skins this helps gta manage the larger files when drawn from afar ..  so a simple editing program in which u can simply change the res of the skin on the fly then replace it in the ytd files should help a hell of alot ...paint.net i think can do this .. its not the end all of solutions but for those with less frame buffer id suggest this.

Thanks for the reply Elmo. EchoWolf actually helped me a while ago with this issue by editing the lspdfr.ini file. I was able to fix my texture loss while keeping your vehicle pack (which I love by the way).

Not if you use it to replace existing slots. Never had a single issue with the modding folder. It needs a ton of optimization so yes, I understand why people get lazy. They don't know how to do it properly. That optimization being mainly the archive count. Sure, if you mess with that one setting you can have multiple packs. But most don't do it.
