PPM Vs. LCPDFR

Featured Replies

So, I have seen that LCPDFR is obviously superoir to PPM in ever way, and it only continues to grow in awesomeness. However, it does seem that PPM has some nice features that I haven't seen in any LCPDFR media (unconfirmed, like, I don't know what is or isn't, just basing this off of Youtube.) Features like the Non-Els code-3 lighting effects, Normal non-backup units joining into chases and some cool missions. So I was wondering what the working status is between the crew of LCPDFR and PPM. I figured that the best option would be to combine the two mods if possible, thus makeing an even better police simulator, but I don't know what the main disagreament is. Did some PPM dude sleep with Sams sister? Or are they too stuck up to give what little bits of codeing they have up to you guys? Or is it a conspiracy among GTA modders to have FR and PPM running to mess with us all?

And yeah, I know it would be a codeing nightmare to try to combine the two, but I figured there are some nice scripts that could be taken fro PPM and added to FR without haveing to start from scratch.

I guess that the main reason as to why there won't be any combined PPM-LCPDFR 'super mod' is that the two mods use entirely different programming languages and scripthooks. Initially, when LCDPFR was a one man band, I just developed it with my limited knowledge of VB.Net using the .Net Scripthook but now, with LMS and Jay on the team, as well as contributions from others, LCPDFR is developed in both C# and VB.Net. Additionally, with AdvancedHook, LCPDFR also uses various other languages and techniques aside from the main script. PPM however, scripts their mod entirely in C++ using the C++ Scripthook. Seeing as C++ scares me when I look at it, there is obviously no prospect of combining the two.

As for implementing the various features that PPM has and we don't, we obviously have no intention of copying what they do and in terms of their very specific features, I don't think that there will be any chance of them being implemented on the grounds of decency more than anything else. In terms of missions and pursuits, we are actively in the process of improving and adding to these particular parts of LCPDFR. For example, our new pursuit system can provide some breathtaking scenes with multiple police helicopters flying strategically over the action complete with tracking searchlights, NOOSE trucks literally driving the suspect into a wall to thwart his escape and cops that act more like pursuit trained officers than Chief Wiggum.

Oh, and will some of this overlap into the normal game? 'cause I would love to see pursuits from both sides of the law.

But but... what if some of us like Chief wiggum >.>

Then you'll just have to wiggum your ass off yourself... Or wait for inevetable times when the educated A.I. screw up anyway.

What about combining these two mods, C++ written files would be written by ppm developer(s) and other files could be developed by lcpd fr team as separate files. just that these two mods could communicate with each other in-game and would make one good police mod. why to make same things that other developer does, when ppm has many missions already and you have something that ppm doesnt have(last time i played lcpd fr was when it had frisk feature etc. instead of too much action, so i dunno what it has nowadays).

By pursuit trained officers, do you mean they drive better and don't give up half way through a chase, or do they just not shoot the guy at the end of the chase?

Sticks and stones may break bones, but 5.56 fragments on impact.

I know my posts are awesome, but orgasmic?

Both, and more.

Well you can interact between .NET languages easily but writing a C++/CLI wrapper to interact with unmanaged C++ (PPM) and .NET (LCPD:FR) isn't a good solution imho. One platform should be choosen instead. And I think no one wants to rewrite everything
