I couldn't agree more. Such a nice military sim now infested with these... zombies.. does that ring a bell?

  • If you have a Paypal account you can use it on their official website, http://www.arma2.com/. Also, make sure you get Arma 2: Combined Operations and, Arma 2: Arrow Head. You need these two for DayZ w

You can purchase it off steam.

Don't torrent it, you won't be able to join any multiplayer games which is where the fun resides in this game.

You can get "Combined Operations" (ArmA 2 & Operation Arrowhead) for a decent price, plus you'll be able to install incredible mods like ACE and JSRS

Processor: Intel i5-6600 @ 3.30GHz

GPU: MSI ARMOR GeForce GTX 1080 OC

Ram: 16GB Skylake

I also forgot to mention there is a free version on steam called "ArmA 2 Free". It features:

  • Low quality Textures
  • No HQ texture support
  • Multiplayer Only
  • No Mod Support

Processor: Intel i5-6600 @ 3.30GHz

GPU: MSI ARMOR GeForce GTX 1080 OC

Ram: 16GB Skylake

JSRS:

Replaces all the crappy default sounds with realistic ones. Makes gun battles sound epic.

ACE:

Adds in a TON of new features that makes the game far more realistic than what it used to be

Processor: Intel i5-6600 @ 3.30GHz

GPU: MSI ARMOR GeForce GTX 1080 OC

Ram: 16GB Skylake

I also forgot to mention there is a free version on steam called "ArmA 2 Free". It features:

  • Low quality Textures
  • No HQ texture support

So it was Arma 2 Free the problem... I thought was my PC that couldn't run Arma with good textures, then I would have bought it...

That's a bad marketing method:/

Sadly, i don't have a credit card, so i can't even get it :(

you could move your ass to a store in your neighborhood :D usually you can pay with cash in stores xDD

i paid 20

DayZ is the cancer of ArmA 2.

Its a military Sim, not a zombie Sim..

Ever since that horrible mod was released, the game has been filling up with immature little kids who just get into the choppers and crash them constantly, I'm sick of it. Most of the good players have left due to it.

It is actually a good strategy, they provide the game, albeit in a toned down version for free of charge, but you ARE able to experience the core gameplay and decide if you want to invest in it, they do the same with the two DLC packs, the British Armed Forces and Private Military Company, the content from those packs are readily available in game, but the textures are not high quality, it means that everybody can play together, unlike most other games where DLC content can only be played by those who owns the DLC content.

So yes, it is actually bad, for them, it could mean less sales, or some do like what I did, I bought the two packs because I wanted to support the team behind it, plus now the objects looks great.

Their other options would be to release a shitty demo that wouldn't give players a time to experience what ARMA is, or they would have no demo at all and people would be forced to pay for it, instead they've chosen to give people a chance to try the core game features before they buy it, and it is really worth it, especially now during the steam sale.

There's a lot of contempt towards DayZ from those who originally bought it for a tactical shooter, I don't want to call it a military sim, because nothing can be a military sim, only the VBS v2, which is also developed by Bohemia interactive, and are used by several Armed Forces around the world to train soldiers.

What the "original" players of ARMA is fearing, is that DayZ will skew the main idea behind ARMA, that it will become a sandbox zombie game instead of the best military game out there.

I agree wholeheartedly with Harper who says that DayZ is the cancer that is killing ARMA, but the mod has clearly shown the need for such a game, it would be a perfect Add-on, or even a separate game, only using the ARMA engine, just like Iron Front : Liberation 1944 does, however the problem with this solution would be that people would be up in arms over having to pay for a project they previously didn't have to pay for.

@Harper Well it's personal preference mate. I only just started playing Arma 2 and where as maybe you are, I'm not a really serious gamer so I'm not into all this 'Ultra-realistic' stuff, I do like a good level of realism though, but the zombie thing is just a bit of fun with your friends. I think it's a very good idea.

That's why I left I use to be a sniper for my old clan. But DAYZ came out than almost 3/4 of the clan left for that mod, me and the main owner spent months making our own missions and getting other mods to work with it... At lest we had a good 3 months before they all left....

I like DAYZ just to have fun with friends but, I hate it as its destroying the arma 2 and OA community. This one server had a 100 slot server and it would be team death match almost every night it would get full, but since DAYZ came out they don't get enough players, now they had to take their server down to.

Getting back to the arma topic. ARMA FREE is so you can get a taste of what the game is like, than imaging that x10 with ace and other mods installed. I like arma over all I would get it a 9.0 just wish more people played ACE and wanted to do war games.
