It's just slow

Featured Replies

Not that it's your fault, but pourquoi?

I notice it especially in the gallery/images it's just... soo.... sloooooooooooooooooooow. It's not my internet, even though it's trash the slowness only happens on here, and it happens for other people too.  It has only been this slow since the weird gallery update a while back, any way to fix this please? Quite annoying.

ALSO

Speaking of the gallery can we get that 4mb gallery limit out of the way please, thanks. Much love bye.

Also btw I'm back here if this was a surprise, I liked the 0.4 technology behind it type post and so yeah hiya.

Images load almost instantly for me and I'm on the other side of the world to the severs.

What browsers are you using?

Hmm that's odd, Chrome. It seemed to happen right after the gallery update, and has been pretty consistently slow recently. Images on the google images search thing wont load if they are from FR, if I go to my profile and hit "images" they will all be white, and going to gallery would take 5m to load the whole thing, or they'd all be blank except a select few. It only happens with FR, and only happened after the update which is why I think it's FR instead of me, although who knows.

Yeah, same thing happens on Edge, and I can try my phone later

From what I understand there's possibly some networking issues for people on certain North American connections which @Cyan is looking in to.

Ok cool thanks boys.

There are two confirmed and acknowledged problems we're currently looking into:

  • Slow initial connections to the site -- initial connection may take a 3-5 seconds. This is impacting all of our frontend servers, however it's a complex issue to solve and apart from a slow initial connection to the site, won't have too much of a noticeable impact due to connections being kept alive etc.
  • Our US frontend server's provider seems to have some slow peering / peering contention to a number of North American ISPs. We are actively working to resolve this.

I have the same problem, I am in Norway.

Since you are in the EU, your problem isn't related to the confirmed issue we're currently investigating and could be caused by any number of issues (both on our side and yours). However we will try and look into this separately.
