Thoughts on the new Toronto police car design?

Different designs are a nice thing to have, especially in a federation, where regions/states/counties maintain certain independence. On the other hand, many liveries hurt my eyes s much it's not even funny, like the new Detroit PD livery. Ohhh Gosh.

On yet another hand (third), many original design solutions are so cool.

I...I thought this was a fire department vehicle.....Y U DO DIS?

I'm fine with PDs trying different designs, but I don't think they should use all red.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

  • I hadn't noticed the fake rivets at first, but I really don't like them. They look dumb and detract from the car.

  • Well people are so touchy in today's world departments can't have "black/white" police cars because they look soooo intimidating ~~~ by the way I'm saying that sarcastically

  • I just think black/white units are just overdone. I prefer departments that come up with their own unique style and flair so they actually differentiate between units from different cities. Like 5-6 o

Im like "Oh cool a fire department charger" then i realise It's a police car, what the HECK?

@Sllickk I like the new Toronto PD Design, have the texture made (and a LORE friendly version), just waiting on screenshots to upload. Im afraid it may not be dark enough, have to wait until the lad who does my screenshots puts it in game first to see.

I do have a feeling the grey is going to need to be darker, I used the HEX Code for Gun Metal Grey. Its a pain not having the game to test it myself :wallbash:

Personally, from the OIV viewer, I like that shade of gray.  If you need another pair of screenshots, feel free to send it my way. :P

(On another note, I've always found it interesting to make textures for a game but not own it.)

I just love doing them. Especially for the people in this community, they're a great bunch lol

And on another note, What is with the red Police Charger? :laugh:

Oh you redphobs... Blame the Brits, they started it.

Where I from, they were painted yellow at some point. And, before you ask, taxis were painted grey-and-black. In Soviet Russia...

I love people trying to be different but damn I was looking for the FD logo on that thing. I bet they catch a ton of people though speeding thinking its the fire department.

I really like it actually! But yes, the grey does need to be darker (in my opinion).

Those are not fake rivets. They are small reflective decals.

Most services seem to be going with the "LAPD" Panda style of Black and whites or blue and whites these days.

Red isn't a good idea for police here in North America given the traditional link to fire.

(FYI interesting fact, the Metropolitan Car shown is an armed response team, as indicated by the yellow dots on the windows. )

What is the purpose for the reflective decals?

The same reason that the logo on the car is reflective. to avoid having someone drive into it.

The dots help outline the vehicle silhouette so that anyone coming up on it can see the outline of the car.

Ultimately Toronto is a large service with a small budget for what it has to do. Reflective decals are much cheaper than outfitting the front of the car with a christmas tree style LED package.

Also tends to be cheaper then going the full reflective side decals. Each side of the car could be upwards of $1k just in decals and another $2-3k for a full Christmas Tree Setup.

Philadelphia used to have all red police cars years ago, but made the switch to blue around the early 70s.
