Trying to figure out two things here.

 

1. What is that lapel/shoulder mic that the Officer's have on their jackets?

 

2. What kind of jackets are those?

 

This show takes place in 1986, I believe.

 

 

These are such obscure questions. Nobody's going to be able to answer this. Maybe on the microphone, but not the jacket.

To be honest those look like carhartt jackets. It's funny how these filmmakers don't even try hard to make law enforcement look realistic. But to the average person wouldn't think nothing of it. So I guess they are doing their job!

To be entirely fair, Stranger Things isn't focused on law enforcement.  They are more of "just around" as part of the population.

That, but when you think of it, Hawkins is such a small town, chances are that they wouldn't be able to afford much actual equipment. I mean, there's literally 2 cops and a Sheriff.

This is very true, but the smaller agencies always gets good equipment because of government grants!

Debatable, the PD I work with only gets new squad cars after three old ones have 30,000 miles on them. Aside from that all our gear is from the 90s.

in an agency where there is only a couple of officers I can definitely seewhat your saying how equipment is scarce!

Stranger Things is one of my all time favorite shows. Just finished it today for the 8th time.
