The future of LSPDFR

Featured Replies

I wanted to have an open discussion about the future of LSPDFR. Development has been very low-profile, and very hyped at the same time, what are your thoughts on the current development stage, and what things are you excited about coming to LSPDFR in the future? :)

I didn't even know they were still Developing for it lol. But in all seriousness, I'd just like to have the "Unarmed Arrest" bug fixed. It's been my biggest gripe ever since it was introduced.

I second this.  It's incredibly annoying that we are forced to aim a weapon at them - especially if you're in Davis/Grove Street. It always turns into a huge shootout.

A workaround is to use the flashlight to aim at them, it works the same as a pistol but they usually don't get violent with it.

Wasn't aware that worked.  I'll have to try it.  The keep calm mod is also a workaround, as it does prevent the gangs from freaking out. At the same time, I do prefer the unpredictability that is GTA V AI.

It's more a balance between the facepalm-causing idiocy of V's AI and the framerate loss of KeepCalm.

Actually, I never noticed a huge loss of frames with it.  I just missed having AI randomly start shit with me.  Or a car hitting a pedestrian, and that pedestrian gets up, drags the driver out, and beats him.  GTA V's AI can be the funniest thing sometimes.

I watched an AI pursuit ten minutes ago (I wasn't involved, I was watching it from a chopper) where a suspect, having ditched his car in a Vespucci Beach alleyway, ran onto the beach to the water's edge, and then proceeded to run back and forth across the same patch of sand for ten minutes while the officers sort of spazzed out jerkily, and he eventually found a way off this path and ran straight into a rock, tripped and got tasered by the now awake officers. Halfway through I put on  the Benny Hill soundtrack and enjoyed it immensely.

Ha! I've disabled the ambient pursuits.  It's just not viable when it always ends in a shootout.  I do wish the LSPDFR dev team gave us the option to remove that ambient pursuit without using another mod.

It wasn't even a random ambient event, it was a legit callout that just played out brilliantly when I wasnt actually involved. To be fair it's brilliant fun when using the Heli Cam mod. Narrating a ridiculously OTT pursuit with cars flipping over and smashing pedestrians in a super serious John Bunnel voice never gets old. 'The suspect flips his vehicle over a ramp, smashing viciously into oncoming traffic, before sliding through a  barrier into a concrete wall. Unharmed, this crazy convict ditches his car and trips immediately into the path of a responding officer's car, ending this drug-crazed driver's reign of terror.'

But seriously, If we're talking real improvements that could be made in a future version, I really just want performance improvements. Using the mod right now basically halves my framerate to sub-30 levels, so optimization for smoother gameplay would be much appreciated.

Ambient pursuits aren't caused by LSPDFR, they're actually spawned by the game engine. They would happen ambiently even if you weren't on-duty in LSPDFR.

[REL] Coastal Callouts: An action-packed mod with new vehicles, maps, capabilities, and callouts in and around the waters of Los Santos

[REL] Police Tape: Make your scenes more realistic while stopping peds and traffic

[REL] Better EMS: Realistic and dynamic EMS response

It's been so long since I've played GTA normally I completely forgot that.

Would love to see some of the more common mods tied into the default LSPDFR. Primarily the stuff Albo has put out, Keep Calm and Better EMS. While some of the other current mods would be nice like more models/uniform options, picking your patrol loadout and getting a partner that matters the QOL improvements those few mods I mentioned would be amazing if they were already cooked into it. More callouts and a more varied amount of Callouts never hurts. If possible being able to setup a patrol area to get calls in. Getting a random callout 5 miles away to respond to just doesnt make much sense unless your working as a county or state entity and no local LEO is available to take that call. Possibly even scripting it so we do not have to call for back up. If your responding to an armed robbery in progress your generally dispatching more then 1 unit.
The problem is I do not personally know what is and is not capable of happening. I actually saw this on something completely random and bought GTAV for PC just to play this. So any development is not a bad thing. Would it be nice to eventually have a Multiplayer style server we could work together on responding to calls sure. Its not necessary for me to enjoy this amazing mod though. (Plus so far all my experience with FiveM has been absolute cancer.)

I agree.  Certain plugins needs to be default with LSPDFR.  However, I think the system they have in place is perfect as is.  With how things are now, people like Albo are able to create mods for the community that we enjoy and use the hell out of.  If it was standard with LSPDFR, we wouldn't have some of the mods we do now, nor the extra features they provide.  Per the multiplayer servers, I don't ever see this becoming official with LSPDFR.  I'm obviously not affiliated with LSPDFR/G17 Media, so I can't speak for them, but from a logical stand point,  given Rockstar and Take Two's stance on modding, specifically online modding, it's in their best interest not to draw anymore attention to themselves. Doing so could bring more trouble than what we previously dealt with.

I do not disagree at all on that part. While what we have no works fine you tend to see a modding community push the envelope more as there is a reason to drive it. Albo literally does gods work when it comes to his mods. Playing without most of them is not even a good option.

As for the multiplayer I also agree on that. As I mentioned in the one thread its surprising Take Two and Rockstar have not seen the potential income from what these mods provide and cooked up their own in house DLC doing the exact same thing. If they made an official all in one Police/Fire/EMS either DLC or its own stand alone game they could probably farm even more cash. Development wise its not like their coders could not tear apart current mods then rewrite the coding and ideas from it. Its not like you can sue for ideas utilizing their property anyways. Just imagine something like  a PVE server with 20-30 people on it split into 4 squads of 2. 1 Fire chief. 3 Engines of 3 and 12 various police patrols operating in a city.

Frankly there have been 2-3 attempts to make a game like that but most fell apart in development. I would love to see what a AAA developer could cook up in 6 months.

One thing I would love to see is more interaction/integration with Police/Fire/EMS. I can understand making 1 mod that allows you to do all 3 is probably unrealistic but having callouts that require all 3 to respond to a scene like fires etc would be a nice QOL touch. Unit XX and XX respond to building fire at 1234 Main street. Assist Fire as needed. Pull up block off the road and when fire leaves scene you clear as well. Or EMS needs you to respond to a house in a hot area to secure it before they move in.
