Captcha Changes

Featured Replies

Just wondering why has the Captcha being changed to a box where you must type things in..... seems like a lot of effort?

Did the old " I'm not a robot " not work anymore?

Just asking...... Please don't ban me

I don't know if the old method didn't work, but purely from a security and anti spam stand point, the new captcha is much easier.  It really doesn't take much effort at all to type out what you see.  Yes, sometimes you get the captcha that is hard to make out - just refresh it and do another.

While it seems tedious, it's necessary.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

We don't control the CAPTCHA software. Not entirely sure how typing something in is a lot of effort though. I've had the type box/click on certain images for ages now.

If you want to me reply as soon as possible, then either quote or @CouthInk4  me as i'll be notified, a general reply will not notify me

We sometimes change which CAPTCHA software to use in response to automated bots. We recently switched from V2 (The tick one) to V1 (the word typing one). Mostly because it seems bots can bypass the V2 software easily and we were being hammered with bots. Once we think the situation is better, we might switch again to V2.

Why not just use something like CleanTalk for IPB? It helps a lot and it only messes up 1% of the time and will block someone it shouldn't, But you get free time out of it if they do.

Gotta keep it knockin' like a work boot in a dryer.

Our downloads system is mostly custom coded, I don't have the time or will to integrate a third-party system with it. CAPTCHA serves our needs just fine, automated downloads are practically null with CAPTCHAv1.
