is there nay way to mod while this brilliant program is gone like an less known program

I'm not touching that "announcement" with a 10 foot pole. I personally believe that is complete bull, created to incite fear among the modding community

Do you know if it was said by Rockstar or Take Two? I have a friend who wants to know.

I'd just like to remind everybody that OpenIv is like LSPDFR. The difference is, LSPDFR provides permission for us to take their code and create additions to their mod.

 

Take Two doesn't. Before we go blasting them, remember it is other peoples work and while I dont think the word 'illegal' may be correct, it is clear we do not have permission to edit their games. It'd be like editing someones book without permission to make it 'better'.

 

 

In saying that though, god dammit! The OpenIV project was amazing and as so many of you rightly point out, even I bought GTAV with the sole purpose of finishing SP and getting into LSPDR and Mods.

 

So Take Two need to think of the revenue too!

This person and The OpenIV team have provided no evidence that anything was said by Take-Two or Rockstar. This could all be complete bs for all we know. Yeah you are right. I think Rockstar knows was a loss they would have shutting down the modding community, knowing how big it is.

The problem is, while this isn't the right section, it's a hot topic, is the GTA IV modelling scene. If you can't take pictures in-game, you're only bet is to use OpenIV for screenshots to keep within site rules. Now that it's gone, I can't. SparkIV is still available, but the WFT viewer is crappy - sometimes it doesn't work, and even if it does, it does not show the livery at all, the camera angles are horrible, and the vehicle is down to it's lowest LOD.

 

For GTA IV, then, is there such an alternative that has a good WFT viewer?

I haven't even completed the game, as soon as Trevor got to Los Santos after the jewelry heist, I stopped playing the missions to play LSPDFR...

On another note, @Lundy's haxx is good for now, but I'm guessing eventually it wont work... not all software is like winrar...

I don't see why it wouldn't work. The OpenIV team was told to stop distribution, not to disable the mod as a whole. The only way it could possibly not work is if they pushed out a game update that fucks with the file formats. Yet you could always just not update your game.

I think you can go about not updating the game only if you have the steam version... with the retail version, playing offline only works for 4 or 5 days before you are forced to log in to Social Club in order to play... which updates the game.

I seriously think it's BS. Someone could easily make a fake C&D and mail it. Unless R* or Take-Two says anything I'm not buying it.
