That's a bit of a stretch considering they started this entire mess to begin with.  I'm glad they finally woke the fuck up and realized their stupidity, but I'm not jumping ship and supporting them because of it.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

Done. I also think a tweeting campaign is in order. (@rockstargames)   This is something very odd with Take2. Many gaming companies (Especially open world games it would seem) are fairly ope

Petitions do nothing. You aren't going to win over a multi-million dollar company.   What you people need to be petitioning is having the retards over at OpenIV stop forcing users to uninsta

To be fair, their reasons were just.....they just went about it the wrong way. I don't know how many people have read the updated statement regarding Rockstar's plea to Take Two, but in the statement it read that OIV was openly aware that certain parts of OIV were able to be used maliciously. Rockstar in the past has supported mods and cited OIV as the tool to use, so both Rockstar and Take Two were aware of its existence.....it must of been just recent that cheaters/hackers started using OIV for their own gains, or rather cracking the program to do what they wanted with it.

I don't think either party meant any harm, I just think Take Two went about it the wrong way and acted out in a blanketed attempt to keep their profits from dying (regardless of how people feel about it, they're still a business and they're there to make money). What I think should of happened is Take Two/ Rockstar should of opened a dialog with the OIV team and see what could of been done to fix the problem.

It also goes both ways too, they could of very well given all of us modders the finger and said that our demographic was too small to really warrant a reason to appease us.....they didn't, in fact for a company that has made one of the biggest most profitable games ever, they actually listened and that is something we should reinforce and not have the mentality of "they goofed, so fuck 'em" not many companies out there do that, so rather than having the yee ol' stick up our asses about the whole thing, we should more or less give Take Two/Rockstar a digital handshake and hug it out as a means of mutual respect for either side.

The statement "Unfortunately OpenIV enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players and interfere with the GTA Online experience for everybody", was just wrong and they know it. OpenIV does not allows or supports any kind of GTA Online mods. We always supported Rockstar in their right to protect GTA Online from hacks and cheats. But, Take-Two's C&D was specific for out Singleplayer mods and have no mentions about GTA Online.

Done, and with a message. Screw Take Two's bullshit (not that message)

"Earlier this week Krivoruchko (Owner of OIV) told Motherboard that he never designed OpenIV for this purpose. He said that he's not interested in GTA Online at all. But he did concede that it is possible that some modders have used OpenIV to impact GTA Online. At Krivoruchko's request, Motherboard is not detailing the methods he discussed so as not to cause more trouble in GTA Online."

That states that it is entirely possible to use OIV maliciously. Whether someone intends something to be used maliciously or not, you've got to understand that there are people out there with ill intentions.

Solid enough, the owner admits their could have been/was a way found to effect online.

The problem here is the profits of Rockstar have never been effected by cheaters and OpenIV even if it was recently found out how with the program. You can look up the earnings for 2016 to see they reached a high of $700million from Shark Card/Game Sales. That is more than money than anyone can say, and it can fund three GTA V replica Titles.

You don't attack a program they you advertised for doing great work to keep the game alive. Rockstar tweets mods themselves and promoted OpenIV. Take-Two simply had to ask OpenIV to look at their program one last time and find out how fix the problem with the breach letting malicious things being used for Online considering it never could before. They already shut down three major hacksites for GTA Online that never used OpenIV.

Precisely the problem I have with the whole scenario. I think Take Two were well within their right to do what they had to do, I however firmly believe they went about it completely wrong. They should of opened up a dialog with the OIV team vs. completely shutting down an integral part of modding. That said, the whole legality of it all is a very grey area...the problem is that Take Two/Rockstar are bounded by the fact that they have to invest interest in keeping the online portion of things free and clear of hackers/cheaters, it's not even so much the loss of profit as it is a whole legal issue surrounding 1 key thing -- Shark cards. People/players have invested tons of money into online shark cards half expecting a relatively clean environment free of cheaters and hackers alike. There have been prior instances of people taking certain game companies to court with the lawsuit of "false advertising" or similar regarding loss of profits coinciding with said false advertisement and online.

By-in-large, Rockstar/Take Two are very familiar with having lawsuits put upon them and in general having people use their games as a very unlikely scapegoat. But, you are right, you don't attack a program that you have promoted.....which leads me to the next thing....Rockstar have always promoted modding and cited OIV as the tool to use, so this must of been a very recent thing (which it is given the statement/C&D). In other words, Take Two didn't just one day decide to give the finger to all of us for the hell of it....I think people believe what they want to believe regardless if there is correct information available, I mean look at how quick the wildfire of "modding is illegal" took off when the owner of OIV made that ridiculous opening statement. Modding never was, or more than likely (never say never) will ever be illegal, but people like to run off with their own stupid ideas and misinformation either way.
