I wish mods would contain workable instructions

Featured Replies

I need to vent because this is out of control. Whenever I want to download a new vehicle skin the instructions on where or how to install NEVER work. Perhaps one out of five actually have instructions that make sense.

For example the Chevy Tahoe 2012 PPV

FBI2 install location:
Just click the import button and import the models and textures for the FBI2 models in patchday4ng. Replace tahoe_sign_# for textures.
Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\patchday4ng\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf

- There is no import button on Open IV (only import open formats but no files are compatible)

- There is no FBI in that folder.

- many other mods point to folders that don't even exist! ex: update.rpf\update\x64\dlcpacks\rde\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf\

I'm fairly computer literate but maybe I'm missing something. Why the heck can't I install any mods?

While I understand it is frustrating, complaining about it in a forum thread isn't going to solve your problem.

Perhaps ask others using the mod comments for help as you're having difficulty.

Additionally, read everything carefully several times, and search for things you get stuck with. For example the folder that doesn't exist, that file path contains /rde/ which would correspond to a custom DLC pack made by the Realism Dispatch Enhanced mod. I don't use car mods at all so I can't be of much further help, but I'm sure others here will be able to assist you. Good luck.

I'm moving this to GTA V support, as it isn't related to LSPDFR.

Your topic has been moved to GTA V Support, this is not LSPDFR related.

The import he was referring to was for textures.  [See here]

In some cases the mod author will have you use the latest patchday, in which the newly added file will overwrite the others.  Since you're trying to replace FBI, go to mods-->x64e-->levels-->gta5-->vehicles.

I've never used RDE, so I'm not too sure about that path.  Depending on what you're trying to replace, just navigate to the dlcpacks and choose one as you normally would, ignoring the RDE aspect.

First off, not all mods are going to replace files. They may replace vehicles, but usually they just overwrite the files instead of replacing them. Also, the green plus button is an import button.

Second, any vehicle that is installed into the folder "rde" requires you to first install Realism Dispatch Enhanced.

Third, just place all all all vehicle files in Patchday12 in your mods folder. If you don't have a mods folder, that's part of your issue. If you haven't got a mods folder, create one inside your gta v directory (the place where the launcher is located), and copy the folders "Update" (for vehicle/weapon models) and "x64" (for sound mods) into that folder.

If you still have issues after reading all the above please message me, and ask for help with one specific vehicle at a time.

I don't understand the point of signatures on this site. What the fuck is the point?

Totally off-topic but have you added BlackJesus's Spokane Pack as add-on cars? If so throught RDE or not?

Add on, I don't use RDE.

There is a great number of pages dedicated to installing models and textures for newbies like yourself. This is my favorite:
