Hey... I need to edit the carcols.meta, vehicles.meta  and carvariations.meta for Police3 in RDE. Where do I find these? I've got to edit them to make a certain model work. I'd really appreciate some support. I've got RDE 3.1 installed.

RDE's Carcols can be found here: \mods\update\update.rpf\x64\data\carcols.ymt, for vehicles.meta and carvarations.meta they can be found here: \mods\update\update.rpf\x64\rde, police3 does not have entries in these files, but they can be added and it'll replace the vanilla lines.

Brilliant thanks! I'll give it a go tomorrow...

It didn't occur to me that it would override vanilla files!

I get what your saying, but it would still end up looking alot more like the grand marquis then the crown victoria, thus I feel that removing the grill would be the better option in terms of realism.

(Actually now that I think about it, a grand marquis look alike as a police cruiser isn't a bad idea, if done right of course)

The time setting of RDE Retro has been changed to the late 90s due to the game not having enough fitting vehicles for a early 90s setting

Are you using only vanilla vehicles or are you using addon vehicles as well?

Are you using only vehicles that came with the retail copy of GTA V, or are you using modded vehicles that are "lore friendly" as well. (im thinking in terms of the actual traffic that spawns, obviously you are using modded vehicles for the police cruisers)

I'm going to use the Premier Classic and some other cars too that weren't in the original game, only lore friendly stuff like this though, no real life models or anything like that.

To clarify, I was reffing to the original 1992 plan for retro. I feel like there is enough to sustain the 1992 setting (if you use all the lore friendly mods possible), but if that is the conclusion you have reached then so be it.  However, since the new plan is the late 90s, I feel like you should go ahead and make the pack take place in 2001 (since this is when GTA 3 takes place), and wouldn't change the pack that much.

Or a medium between late 1996 - 2003, or something like that. and get a taste of both eras. With perhaps the Blaine County Sheriff Office Having the more older variants while SAHP Would have the more modern vehicles. Leaving the rest with ether all of them, or a nice medium.

That's actually a interesting idea, would bring even more variation into RDE Retro since that will enable me to use more vehicle models, I will definetly think about that, thanks for your input.

If it helps, I could compile a list of all the lore friendly vehicles for a 2001 GTA setting.

Ok, sorry for the delay, but here is the link to the list: http://www.mediafire.com/file/hz2uhrkz98egq68/GTA_V_2001_Retro.txt Cars that aren't included in the list are either too new, or old enough that its obvious the cars where made before 2001.

Some things to consider

- Majority of Vehicles in 2001 had Hubcaps instead of alloy wheels. While GTA V doesn't have Hubcap wheels, try adding certian types low rider wheels to cars such as the Feroci and Merit, since their real life counter parts used hubcaps

-  To enhance realism, it would by a good Idea to redesign liveries for some of the buses and trucks in the game to make them look older.
