10 Star/Half Star Review System

Featured Replies

Currently LCPDFR uses a 5 star review system which greatly limits control over scoring files and causes many people to get upset when a file is rated 3 stars or less despite this being the "average" score. I propose that instead of this 5 star system, we move to a 10 star system which would increase the "average" score from 3 to 5, and also allow users to rate files more fairly than just 5/5ing or 1/5ing everything as there's more room to score.

Another idea would be to add a half star system, which would allow users to vote 3.5 stars if they so choose rather than just 3 stars if the file was above average but not "great", etc etc.

You're asking for 6 of one and half a dozen of the other here.

I don't think changing the review system will have any effect, especially considering a review is entirely subjective to the individual. People will just get pissy that they only got 5 stars out of 10 the same with 3 of 5.

It's impossible for anyone here to say what is a fair rating either, so moving to 10 stars won't improve the ability to rate fairly. 6 stars might be fair to one person but unfair to another.

Just my two cents worth.

i agree with both your points here, but i think leaving the system makes sense if a new system wouldn't have any benefits

thats not going to change anything, itl be the same review with a different ratio.

one thing that i do miss though, is the ability for the author to respond to reviews. too many times people leave a review where they shouldve left a comment. and we can t respond to said review.

For people who do the 10/10 already, it wouldn't affect much. I just feel a /5 rating isn't much of a review being there's so much detail being put into these modifications nowadays. Especially in vehicles which takes up probably 85% of LCPDFR's downloads. Maybe they'd just need to be aware of what a higher rating system would mean. I usually just get 5/5 all the time and I know there are things that I can probably improve. If not that, I'd bet on a half star system. Which technically can be like a 10 star system, but counting halves and what not. I think that would be quite efficient. There are a lot of modifications out there that I'd rate 2/5, yet 2/5 seeming very low of a rating. Yet the modification isn't very suited for a 3/5. That's my input.

Then what about the half star system instead? The whole idea behind this thread was to increase the room for scoring files, and I believe that even a half star system would work better than what we currently have. Files with small issues could be voted 4.5/5 and files above average could 3.5/5 etc
