Failed US Army Humvee paradrop

Featured Replies

4 Humvees in a paradrop test parachutes failed to deploy. Thats nuts lol, at least it wasn't paratroopers and nobody was hurt...apart from the tax payers pocket

Somebody is going to get their ass kicked tonight :P

Stuff like this happens a lot. Usually the fault of the riggers in charge of rigging the chutes.

Last year, the 82nd dropped an LMTV (basically a large transport truck) that failed to deploy its chutes. I heard rumors that the riggers gave a bunch of infantrymen the manuals and didn't bother supervising or checking the final job.

Sticks and stones may break bones, but 5.56 fragments on impact.

Wow, you'd think they would check that stuff. Thats a unbelievable expensive mistake to make

Our paratroopers lost a BMD-2, and even a BMP in similar circumstances. Shit happens. Especially in military :D

Okay, thats a bit worse then a small Hummer. At least it wasn't an expensive BMD-4 :P

Its been in service for a few years, should see some in the Victory Parade

~~should be about 90 in service since there was 80 in 2013

The things you see in the parade don't make it into active duty units. At least that's how it works in Russia. For example, BMP-3 has been manufactured since 1980s, but still only "kremlin's toy soldiers" operate them.

To be fair Russia still has 1000's of cold war vehicles that they would probably deploy first as its not as valuable of an asset to lose

Well, I spend 4 years training to be an infantry lieutenant on an APC which probably remembers Khrushev lol. So yeah, lots of old Cold War shit.

xD It's going to be a bad day for someone... I guess it happens, especially to the US forces, they have so much equipment to deploy it's hard for them to check every single vehicle properly I guess.
