Hello!

I am trying to understand some things.

So i put mod that was mad for police on police2(files came without carvariations settings)

When i replace police car file with Police(first), everything works fine.

But when i replace this car with Police2, lights are messed up(red lights become orange, and some light not flashing at all)

So i opened carvariations and copied police line on police2. (still my lights are not working)

Im new at this and don' t understand what im doing wrong.

It's a problem that is, to my knowledge, inherent to only the sheriff2 and pranger files. It makes some models having pitch black tinted windows, and since many models have the lightbar glass of the same material as the windows, it tints the lightbar glass as well, preventing the lights from flashing through. There's a very easy fix for that. Search for the vehicles.meta file located in update/update.rpf/common/data/level/gta5, and extract it somewhere. Open the extracted file with notepad or similar software, and press Ctrl+F to open the search bar. Search for the name of the car slot you installed your modded car in and causing this problem. Once you found the car lines, scroll down until you find a line that looks like this:

And replace it with this:

It'll make the windows transparent and make the lightbar light up.

 

This option works 100% of the time 60% of the time.

Good day, since 3 days I'm having trouble with texture on police2 and only this one. I tried replacing carvariation and vehicule meta but still no luck. Tried to change the car too. At first the livery was green and now the lightbar and other lights are not showing the right texture. Depending how I look at the car the texture pop in and out. Can anyone think of another solution?

What should I do when I only have car files and ELS.  Most Dutch police cars don't have more. I tried many now for police3 but flashing lights don't work anyway I can fix this it's anoying me big time.

Anyone know of a guide or anything to help with the .meta stuff?  This guide and so many others I've found simply says "follow the instructions of the modder" which is unhelpful when the modder gave no instructions.  I'm having the issues of lightbars no showing and lights not flashing correctly and such, which is the issue of not editing the .meta files, apparently.  But nothing gives me info on what I'm doing with the .meta files, where to find them, nothing.

When I try to install a car, not all of the files appear in the patch day (under the vehicles section) despite me selecting all of them, and even trying to do one file at a time. And when I take a look at the file, the car livery is never there. Even tried loading into the game, the vehicle was there, but was a glitch mess. (Tried on multiple different vehicle mods)

Textures imported into the .YTD need to be in .png format. A lot times it wont indicate that it didn't transfer it just wont go in.   Try opening a livery with a program such as Paint.net then save it as a .png extension. Then it will import.  Other files need to be in a .xml format to be reimported back into OpenIV.  Hope that helps some!

I have followed your instructions and used OpenIV to put the police.xxx files into the latest patchday folder, which is in my mods folder, only 2 of the copied cars load in the game and the lights dont work and are floating on top of the car, please help ? 🙂

I do all the steps 
1.I copy to main folder script hook 
2. I open iv and go to mod folder go to x64, patch day 25
3. level 
4.vehicles and I dragged the car files to the place 
5. I go to gta and not find when I try spawn the police car I try on spawn on f4 and not find 
what the problem with my steps

Help with AddOn packs please. 
 

I installed an adddon pack, and 5 of the 10 vehicles I don’t want.  
 

So the question is what to do to remove just those 5.  I’ve deleted from the dlc pack(ytd/ytf) and removed those item lines from the vehicles.meta file too. 
 

However when I load into the game, access Simple Trainer > addon menu > all the vehicles appear though the 5 I removed can’t be spawned.  
 

How do I remove them from appearing as available in Simple Trainer?

 

Must be a way to edit addon packs somehow right?   I feel like I’m just missing one section to remove so they don’t appear in simple trainer now.

Did you clear them out of carvariations.meta as well?  That's the only thing I found checking through some of my add on packs.

Thanks so much for the reply.  I did some more playing around and found if I do the following, I was able to remove specific Add On cars, and they did not show up in Simple Trainer anymore.

How to edit/remove specific Add On cars from the DLCpack after installing

 

Use Case: DLCpack contains 10 addon cars, after installing you only like 3 of them, how do you remove the 7 you don't want?

 

*assumptions are that you are familiar with the install process via OpenIV
I also have not tested this method exhaustively but I couldn't find any other method that was fully documented for Add On cars in this scenario
Backup your files as needed!

 

1. Navigate to the vehicles.rpf within the DLCpack you installed and remove the yft/ytd files of the cars you don't want
--eg: mods/update/x64/dlcpacks/<yourpackname>/dlc/x64/levels/gta5/vehicles/vehicles.rpf

2. Navigate to the carvariations.meta within the DLCpack you installed and remove the sections that contain the vehicles you don't want.  Remove only 
within the Item tags.  Be cautious.
--eg: mods/update/x64/dlcpacks/<yourpackname>/dlc/common/data

3. Navigate to the vehicles.meta within the DLCpack you installed and remove the sections that contain the vehicles you don't want. Remove only
within the Item tags. Be cautious.
  eg: mods/update/x64/dlcpacks/<yourpackname>/dlc/common/data/levels/gta5
  
4. Remove the ELS xml files as well for the cars you want to remove
  
Reload your game and your addon menu should no longer contain those that you removed above
