EPA Trying To Get Rid Of Car Mods!

You are essentially asking me why I enjoy the things that I enjoy. Why does anyone like anything?? Some people enjoy gardening others enjoy drawing or smoking crack cocaine exc.....  I enjoy driving and taking something someone made and customizing it to make it better for me. That is what i do and enjoy. I bet some of the stuff you do in your free time i would think is not interesting or pointless.   Lots of people do lots of things.

And for what its worth I work for a solar instillation company. And am working on getting my bachelors degree in renewable and sustainable energy. So before you assume that i`m some prick that does not care about the environment because I modifying my car think again.

No, I'm not essentially asking you that. I like driving too. I like driving on tracks too. Do I unnecessarily modify my car's computer for it to make my engine run faster/more efficiently but also most probably bypass environmental restrictions? No. You can perfectly do what you like and enjoy without having to do that. For example, I like driving too as I said. Does that mean I'm going to abuse it and drive 5 hours straight for no reason and with no destination other than driving around and coming back home? No, because it'd be pointless, a waste of gas, and most of all, an unnecessary pollution. It's called being responsible.

I don't say you can't have hobbies and you can't enjoy things you like. But there's also the fact that what you're doing might have consequences, and thinking about those consequences and acting on them to possibly prevent them makes the difference.

For example, why don't you try and modify your Impala to run with an electric engine (with solar panels, since it seems to be your kind of job), but while keeping awesome performances? Now, that would mean you're interested in your hobby, that you do that for the perf, for the joy of modifications, and not just to unnecessarily push the gas pedal to the floor to make your engine roar and make heads on the sidewalk turn to look at you.

Wow... you just said exactley what car culture hates. It's not that we like to pollute it's just that a hobby causes it. And frankly running a car on an electric engine would never be the same. It's our hobby, it pollutes. But if your so worried about the enviorment do something for it yourself instead of bugging us about it. I don't see you planting trees every weekend.

I do stuff for the environment indeed. Like not keeping lights open, not putting the heater too much, sorting my trash for it to be recycled, avoiding to pollute more than I should. What I said is not what "car culture" hates, it's what people who refuse to contribute to the environment hate. Makes a huuuge difference. You're going to tell me that engineers working on clean energy engines or low polluting engines love cars and engines less than you or anyone else? No, it's a passion just like all the other people. They just make the choice to go into that direction. Now, if you assume to pollute unnecessarily, good for you, but you won't have any right to complain the day you'll see the ocean licking your doorstep because of the global warming partly caused by people running over-polluting engines for no apparent reason other than "for the lulz".

Fair enough. A solar powered Impala now that is daft lol. When i say i reprogram my car i`m not saying i`m programming it to spit out lumps of coal the size of infants. I`m removing speed limiters, Raising RPM limits, making it run the way is should on E85 and better on race gas. And on top of all that im still  getting 35 miles to the gallon in a 365HP sedan. My thing is im not gonna buy into all the green motoring BS. These little city electric cars are junk the Prius is terrible for the environment because of the way the battery's are made and their usual life span. It only exist so pretentious D bags can let the world no they care even though they probably don`t. Because ppl cant just do the right thing they need to let the world know they did.

What it comes down to is I will not stop using the fuck out of gas  till they start mass producing cars on Hydrogen. Solar and Hydrogen are the future and everything else is a fad.

So nah ill just push the gas peddle and turn heads all weekend. And get my environmental karma during the week doing Installs in solar.

So no, they're not taking away your freedums. Even still, it is the job of the federal government, specifically the EPA, to regulate emissions within the country. So the idea of this not meeting those standards and therefore being an illegal modification is actually perfectly reasonable, if you're even willing to admit that the EPA should exist in the first place.
