IMO, they can get rid of it, it's useless.

CloudFlare is a service which provides DDoS protection.

The reason LCPDFR is using it is because we've been under DDoS attack.

It prevents spam bots, SQL injection and DDOS, it's in the sites interest to keep it there. It also speeds up the site if I remember correctly.

One of my friends on an old website got DDoS'd a few times and had the site up within minutes with an external server hard drive thingy, without any "protection".

"Results not typical." Just because one person manages to handle one DDoS, doesn't mean anything. There are different levels of attack (more load), different durations, etc.

Okay, so it will protect the website. Got that.
