New to PC gaming.

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm new the whole pc gaming side until here shortly I found out how much fun pc gaming can be. Since I don't know anything about it I understand that I'd need a pretty good pc to play lspdfr (I assume) now can I go online and buy a gaming pc and I'll be okay to run mods for lspdfr or will I have to fork out more money after purchasing a new/used gaming pc?

Depends on the PC you buy, it's generally encourgaed to build you own PC, although some pre-built computers can do the job. if you have any computers you've found, just link them here and we can tell you if it'll be fine or not.

What about this one? I wanna start out with gta v and run some mods for it and then build on from there. I mean I don't need to run it with 4k quality just 720p or 1080p

Nvid GeForce gt 720 1 gb is what it says right next to graphics.

That wouldn't run GTA V unfortunately. it's an old card with 1gb VRAM, you need atleast 2GB to play on low settings.

This is what I could come up with:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk-tech-labs-amd-apu-micro-atx-gaming-pc-configurator-fs-011-tl.html#p=rtov0#rtpv2?rtqv2xrtrv2Wrtsv3~rttv3yrtAv3zrtBv47rtCv48rtDv4zrtEv56rtFv5;rtGv5$rtHv5!rtIv5/rtJv6;rtKv71rtLv7/rtMv8:rtNv8#rtOv9W

I'm not sure how much shipping costs, but something like £600 will be the total cost of the PC. It should run games fine on high, maybe even ultra. Doesn't come with a WiFi adapter so you'll have to use your ethernet cable, also doesn't come with keyboard or mouse. Let me know if it doesn't satisfy you.

You'll be spending $800 or more on a decent PC. The one you linked has too little RAM and a bad graphics card.

So if I got this one I'd be able to play gta and run the mods with no problems?

Also, something to note; you may have to install Windows manually- you can do this with either a disk drive or, for an easier method, with a USB. You should look up the methods in case the PC doesn't come with Windows pre-installed.

When it comes to graphics cards, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 2GB does the trick for some people. Ultra settings net you around 30-40fps, and you can easily just slap everything on High and net an easy 60fps.. As well, it's simply a great card to start off your gaming experience, with just a $260-$290 price tag. Of course, you could upgrade that in the future, if you want. Usually when it comes to gaming, the graphics card would be the most expensive part in your computer.

Generally, 980 cards are really good, however I can't speak specifically for that one because i've never heard of "Zotac". If possible try MSI, ASUS or Gigabyte as they are the more popular brands when it comes to GPU's. (Really all they do is the cooling but better to be safe than sorry).

ZOTAC is fine. Not my first choice, but they work. Just make sure you register the warranty it comes with. You can usually RMA it within 3 years if something goes wrong. Also, high temperatures with nVidia cards are expected under load. Ideally, with a well ventilated air cooled case, your temperatures should not reach triple digits. But it can happen. I talked to a PNY rep one time back when I had an 8800GTX, and he told me that the cards were heat tested to 124C, and had an auto shut-off feature at 114C to avoid physical damage to the card, and that temps of 100C were normal under load. My 670 doesn't run that hot under load, but it's a totally different generation, and I don't own a 900 series card so I can't give you a frame of reference.

The problem with low end cards is most of them have horrible price to performance ratio. Sometimes saving $50-$100 more can triple your performance.

The 720 though is actually pretty good in this field, not to expensive and decent performance for what your paying.

(I'm not hating on low end cards, I don't have the best card myself)
