LCPDFR: Officer Down

I recently downloaded Vegas Studio 11 HD for my film project at college.

Before I began filming using the very expensive college cameras I'm afraid to even look at without breaking, I wanted to get some practise in with this complex program.

So, cue GTA IV and a spare hour or two and I threw this together using the ingame video editor, LCPDFR and of course Sony Vegas.

Best viewed in 720p

Let me know what you think!

I personally love the shot of the merc as the camera pulls outwards and moves towards the top right of frame.

P.S: No, I'm not a westlife fan, I was searching for a decent song that would fit with the video.

This video also showcases some of the skin mods I've recently created including the Nevada Highway Patrol Uniform (Still needs a lot of work)

Nice first run. I am going to assume a lot of the effects used were for testing and so forth. Not the greatest bit of video editing (better than I can presently do) but I'll say good first run. I am sure it will take hours and hours to get it down to where you are happy. Unless of course you are happpy as it is. In which, all the best ;)

Again, that was a sincere "nice first run!".

Side note, I hate the aberration "merc" not sure if some is referring to a mercury or a Mercedes. /rant

Yeah, I wouldn't normally include so many effects but as you quite rightly said, it was my first time using vegas,

Thanks for the constructive criticism, It'll help me towards future videos and improving them over this one, I'm happy you posted it and didn't just down-rep it like one member clearly has, I cannot build on a negative number.

I enjoyed it, though at the beginning it feels like it is kind of too slow, the shot of him exiting the vehicle to the pure blackness (On my end I couldn't see him), to the security feed. It could've been done faster and cleaner, rather then the drawn out bit of nothing. The music fit very well, a lot of editing went into it and though its a tribute, I think less black/white would've been appropriate. Maybe some effects of color changing while you are zooming in on the effected officer, to kind of give the idea that he is no longer here. Not quite sure really, but I enjoyed it. The music fit with it, and it was good editing. Definitely good for a start.

I'd also suggest using better vehicles, example is the ambulance. It looked a little blurry and the lights weren't that good. I'd suggest using ELS and trying to modify the camera angles to hide the door problem.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll incorporate it into future videos.

1. Officer exiting into blackness - I can see him perfectly as he walks to the back of the truck although I do use a graphical mod which does make the game much darker at night in future i'll remove it and add in the darkness during editing

2. Ambulance - ELS lights don't show up on IV's video editor which is why I had to use an non els one.

I also apologise for the bad quality of the 911 call, you have no idea how hard it was to find a 911 call of an officer down

I liked it. It was way better then I could of done. I agree with the beginning being kind of drawn out and it was very hard to see the guy after he got out. The only thing I would say to work on is your music editing... being a DJ I know its not easy to cut parts out and pause them and add things in on a song, so maybe look into a program to help with your audio editing like Ableton or Audacity or AcidMusic or something like that. And congrats on finding the officer down clip, I know that wasnt easy!

Sad that things like that happen in real life, but great job with everything.

While this is just a game and it's hard not to smile at the game elements and the characters, It's really sobering to know that things like this happen all too often in real life, and real officers are injured and killed in such manners.

Very sad, but great editing and video work. I like it!

I just don't like the subject matter...but that's the world we live in.
