a friend suggest i should get this as  a good upgradable pc. he said it should run gta 4 pretty good and should also be able to run 5 on low. i really don't know much about these kind of things so i figured this would  be a good place to get some more input.

I always think it's better to build your own PC rather than buying a prebuilt one but that build should be alright for most games. The graphics card is lacking in terms of graphically intense games (such as V) as it's only got 1GB of VRAM but it will run GTA V on lowish settings without much issue.

yea he mentioned about the vram. right now i don't have enough money to build a full fledged gaming pc. so this seems to be a good start

I would strongly recommend saving up a bit more to build your own PC.  I built mine for about $650/700ish and it's a strong PC with room for upgrades in the future.  Having a not-as-powerful one now won't help when you need to get a new one in 5 years.  Spending a bit more now will allow you to upgrade easier.

I wouldn't really advise that build, no. CPUs sub-par, graphics card is bad, power supply is bad, and it's a microATX motherboard.

I would take a look at some of these builds on the pcmasterrace reddit

If you can save up a little more money (a little over $34) I would get the parts for the Next-Gen Crusher you could change the case up if you want just have to make sure it is compatible. I think this would be a great upgradable pc for you.

That's a bad CPU. Don't do that... and you gave him another microATX motherboard, and the GPU is sub-par despite its age: http://www.hwcompare.com/16571/geforce-gtx-670-vs-radeon-r9-270/

Lol I knew you would say that about the microATX motherboard(just to ask why don't you like them?) but he is looking for a pc to be upgradable and he is on a budget so I don't know if he can get better than that. If he had an extra $300 I would tell him to get the next-gen-exterminator but I don't think he has that kind of money.

He should save, a computer for gaming is an investment, not an impulse buy. Micro ATX is just that, micro. It's a small form factor that's designed to fit in a small case, thereby it's not fit for large components that emit a lot of heat into a small space. MicroATX is great for home servers or a slim tower, but that's not what this person actually needs.

I have to agree with what's been said - for a home office, it would do the job. If you're looking for gaming (which clearly you are), that is not going to leave you satisfied. I'm not a fan of AMD CPUs, as they tend to run hotter, heck some of the FX CPUs are practically tiny nuclear reactors. I'd look into i5 or i7 Intel chips, they run cooler which seams to improve system stability.

You won't be happy with a 1Gb 750. It's too underpowered for today's games. Don't use less than a 780, and certainly don't get a card that has 2 or less Gb of memory.

Steer clear of budget power supplies. They aren't usually as reliable, they can be noisy, and they are not as well built, this can easily damage your computer's sensitive components. In some cases, overloading or overheating power supplies can allow build ups, essentially sending your machine to a date with an electric chair .

what is something you would suggest within the same price range

Nothing. Gaming computers don't cost $400, otherwise stores like Best Buy would be filled of a computer department filled with the same model over and over again. Save up.

Honestly. you get what you pay for. I wouldn't get this. Especially for GTA. If you can save up, just 100$ more. 500$, you can get a MUCH better PC. And focus on a better graphics card or video card then a core. A quad core could run a game fine, but if you have a bad graphic card. Good Luck. Don't get Intel Graphics. I recommend a Intel Core with AMD or Nevidia Graphics.

is there anyone that i could upgrade to a gaming pc?

You have to start off with a good CPU. Many chips have different sockets with a different pin count, so you can't buy a $300 Pentium processor computer and then shove in a $400 CPU in there when you feel like it. So a computer with a good CPU without any graphics card at all might run you around $800 - $900. And even then it's going to have a sh*t power supply that wont provide enough wattage for a graphics card upgrade so you'd need to replace that as well, and it will have poor ventilation due to lack of fans, along with a proprietary case design that won't make upgrading to a graphics card with a large heatsink and fan combo on it easy, if it's possible at all.

Just save.
