Does anyone know if ELS is in development for Gta V?

Featured Replies

Hey guys! I don't know if anyone has asked this already, but does anyone know if ELS is being developed and do you know who? I know it takes time so obviously I'm not asking when, but asking if.....it's being developed. I know this was a huge hit in Gta 4 and now with a more stable port in Gta 5 it would be an amazing milestone. Thanks guys :)

It is being developed by the same people who developed it for GTA IV, Lt. Caine and LMS (with numerous contributions from others I cannot remember at the moment).

It has been answered before, so please do use the search button in the future.

This isn't ELS but it's close and also in development.

Interesting. Shame that the door bug that was present in GTA IV is still a thing here. I'm curious as to why it does that though, I'm not really a code junkie, so it's way above my head.

The reason it was present in GTA IV (and also in that video) is the way the mod works. Each light in the mod is an "emissive object" that is created when the light is supposed to be on, and removed when it is supposed to be off. This means that for each light turning on/off, the entire car model is essentially refreshed to its default state. This was why invulnerability was present in all but the last versions of ELS for GTA IV, and also why the door looks as if it is opening and closing rapidly whenever you enter or exit the vehicle.

As far as I know, the push for ELS in GTA IV isn't as prevalent in GTA V, simply because police lights in V look a lot better than they did in the previous iteration of the franchise. What myself and others are missing now, though, is the ability to select patterns and the like for our cars when playing. While I still expect ELS to be popular if it is released for GTA V, I don't expect it to be as game-changing as it was in GTA IV.
