Hey guys, I currently have a GTX 590 graphics card. I just acquired another one just like it that a friend of mine was nice enough to gift me after helping him build his new rig. I want to run them in SLI but I have the PSU bottle neck. Ive been reading around and its recommended to have AT LEAST 1200 Watts for this Quad SLI configuration I want to do. My question is, do I spend $200 on a new 1250 Watt PSU and run quad SLI with all of my other specs unchanged, or do I just build a new rig for $700?

My current specs:

Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66 @ 3.08 GHz, 8GB of DDR3-1333, GTX 590, 850 Watt PSU, Intel DX38BT motherboard

So should I spend $200 and add another GTX 590 to this rig? Or build this proposed computer for $700?

Core i5 4690K 3.5 GHz

GTX 960 4GB

MSI DDR4 Z170 Krait Gaming Motherboard

Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB DDR4-2133 MHz

Wait, Quad SLI? So you have 4 cards already? If you've already got those, may as well use them.

Lol guys the GTX 590 is a dual GPU card. Running 2 GTX 590s in SLI is conisdered Quad SLI because its a dual GPU card.

I would build a new PC with a GTX 960 and a i5 4690K you will be taking to very large steps in GPU and CPU architecture. This would be the better bang for your buck as investing in an older architecture i.e. the 590 is not worth it at this point.  

If going with the 960, don't be like me and make the mistake of getting the version with only 2gb of vram, you'll want atleast 4.

GeForce GTX 760 is terrible. Screen constantly flickers in games. Yes, its the Graphics Card. Everything was the same as before, but I changed the Graphics Card and it just flickers in games now. So yeah, my verdict is do not get.

That doesn't really tell anyone anything. Just because there is something wrong with your card doesn't mean there is a problem with every card of that type. You should contact support for whoever the manufacturer of your card is, and possibly RMA it if it is in fact a problem with the card itself.

Dude, you have a Q8400, bottleneck city. Get yourself a new rig.
