Why can't people post on old support topics with no answers?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a suggestion, WHY can't people post on old support topics with no answers!?!?!?!?! Because, that's what I've done before LSPD:FR was released, and then I got a warning for it.... People who make these posts are most likely still waiting for a response (Some people) and some are just gone, but that isn't hurting anyone or the forums, I'm not talking about the support guidelines that says "Please follow these guidelines: Please post logs", I'm talking about the part that says, "DO NOT REPLY to old topics!" Please change that and make it so we can reply to old topics. This is ridiculous having to make this post, I liked it how it was, please change!

You've never been 'allowed' to reply to topics that are older than 30 days, as those are considered dead and abandoned. Posting in such a topic is what we call a "bump" or "necro-post".

Since you brought your warning up, you were posting in topics that were years old. LSPDFR (not LSPD:FR) was not even released back then. These rules won't change, but we will bring back a clearer notice it isn't allowed some time soon I hope.

To add on to ineseri's comment, it also brings that topic to the top of the forum board, so if you reply to a 6 month old topic that is no irrelevant then it pushes all the topics from people with current problems down. causing all these old topics up top and making the support forum a mess.

if a support topic was open and hasn't been touched for 30 days then there is no point in replying because the user has most likely fixed the problem, haven't visited the site (there have been heaps of people who just create an account - open a topic - then leave and never to return) or the problem itself got fixed in an update.

I've been seeing your name pop up in the support forums quite a bit, and it's great that you've decided to help out. but try to stick with topics that don't exceed the 30 day limit. your time helping out is better spent within the 30 day limit as that's where the support is needed right now.

If you want to me reply as soon as possible, then either quote or @CouthInk4  me as i'll be notified, a general reply will not notify me

Wouldn't it be best to simply close topics that haven't been active for 30 days? Why leave them open?

We've thought about it, but in reality it doesn't make any sense. We had some discussions about it internally.

No one has EVER told me that before LSPD:FR was released.

What if they are still waiting for support, on my old account like several years ago I had a support topic with no answers and still doesn't and It caused me to sell my copy of GTA IV because I bought it just to play LCPD:FR?

I don't believe so because 35% of people are still waiting for support, how about closing them if they are over 3 months old and haven't been active since then and just make a new section just for old support topics instead of closing them.

To add onto my post, why not just put the support topics that are old into a "Junk" forum section, instead of closing them and let people just reply to them if they want and see if they are still there and if not report the post, doesn't that sound like a good idea?

To assume a support topic that has been solved after 30 days being untouched is just silly. Oh, did they get an answer from Rockstar Support, because there are totaly other website to find support for GTA PD mods.

"How dare these people post in topics we refuse to delete/lock."
