Real Police Work

Featured Replies

To the creators,

First off, let me say you have something incredible in LSPDFR.  I was one of the first players of LCPDFR when it came out and have been a follower ever since.  You guys have accomplished so much in such little time that I can't wait to see what the future brings.

Having said that, I would also like to make some suggestions for future releases that people like me would enjoy and were never implemented in LCPDFR.

I am currently in the police academy here in Florida and have grown up in a police family.  While I know many of us love the adrenaline of the car chases and shootouts, such events in real life are a very small percentage of what a police officer experiences.  In reality, police officers are social workers/secretaries with guns whose jobs are comprised of 99% paperwork and boring calls and 1% action/sheer terror.  I would like to see what I call "real police work" implemented.  such as the following:

- ROUTINE calls for service

      - Welfare checks

     - NON Violent domestic disturbances

     - Alarm calls

     - Basic thefts (shoplifting, property theft, delayed theft reports for property and auto's)

- Implement some sort of report writing system (not saying we actually write a report, but perhaps before a prisoner transport is complete you have to hit a hotkey to write a report on the incident)

I believe if you were to mix in some of these more basic calls for service, you would go a long way in appeasing the RP crowd like me. Keep up the great work.

Please No paperwork!!

I'm an EMT and 90% of my work is PCR's and DNR sheets.......

I don't want to come home and fill out virtual paperwork at a desk and answer phones.......I'll just go back to work......

I'll ask my subscribers tomorrow if they want to watch me answer phones.......

I just started working on a callout mod aimed at the routine side of policing.  I have no idea how long it's going to take as I have a very basic understanding of the whole process but it is in the works and I plan on getting a forum thread up very soon to announce it!

Also trying to make it less... go here, arrest or kill the bad guy and move on... more... go here, talk to victim, talk to bad guy, talk to witnesses, maybe cite bad guy or arrest in some cases.

I agree with OP. I hope the team does decide to add a huge amount of non-action policing. It's nice and all, but its too often. Need more investigating and less dangerous stuff than an armed or fleeing suspect. I don't rely on API/Callout mods because they're (usually) buggy and unstable, opposed to the actual developers putting the callouts in themselves.

I hope in 0.3+ theres more variety of non violent callouts. Paperwork would kind of be boring, realistic yes but for the mods sake probably no.

I know they made the stun guns non-lethal now, but it would have been realistic to maybe kill a Civ 1/10,000 times, then a riot and protesters start looting all around Los Santos. That's when the real police work starts...LOL.

I would love more realistic stuff in there. Reminds me of the old police quest series. You actually had to walk around your vehicle to check it before you could drive off :D Good times lol.

That said, too much of the boring, routine stuff and it becomes a RL simulator. A balance would be great.

I think the best approach would be for LSPDFR to be simple but let addons add realism for those who want it.
