I know a lot of things have already been suggested in this thread, but I'd like to add another suggestion to that growing list.

Hopefully it'd be easy to implement. My idea is to split police audio into two categories - "aggressive" and "passive". What I mean by that is, for instance, when first pulling someone over, over the loudspeaker instead of yelling "PULL THE F*CK OVER!" instead a more calm audio file is selected. I feel like it breaks immersion a little when they suddenly yell at a driver when attempting to pull them over because one of their tail lights isn't working.

As I said, hopefully this wouldn't be too hard to do.

  • A trailer showcasing animations doesn't make for very good viewing, especially not for a first reveal.  Was it a normal cop chase?  No, every entity involved in the pursuit except the player was spaw

I agree, but I don't know if there are audio files like that. Majority of the things cops say in GTA 5 are very aggressive. They cuss at people who walk by that did absolutely nothing. Would be a nice feature though :D

Isn't there one that says, "Pull the car over!" without sounding too aggressive? I might be thinking of GTA IV though.

Within the first minute of this video, there's a fairly non-aggressive "Driver! Stop your vehicle!". That could work as a more passive one. Looking through it for more like that.

I also heard cops say: 'Put it in park, will ya.'

Yeah, that's another one that would work passively. Wonder how this could be implemented, though? Maybe there could be a file structure for voice files splitting them into what context they are, which (police) ped model they're for, which gender, and whether they're passive or aggressive lines?

I don't see why it needs to say anything for a traffic stop. It's something that's always annoyed me in LCPDFR.

Notnsure about the US but here in Australia it'd just be a case of coming up behind someone and  throwing the lights on. Maybe a blast of the siren if they aren't paying attention. Never heard the speaker being used...

I live in the UK, and it's the same here, but apparently they do it differently in America.

Another reason, for the mod at least, would be that pressing shift to pull them over and nothing happening (because that's not the siren button) and yet they pull over or having to switch the lights on to move people out of the way and it pulling everyone over in front of you even though you didn't want that could be annoying.

No, that's also how it works in the US (cops generally turn on their lights, and blip the siren if you don't pull over, and only then get on the PA if you still haven't pulled over, and if you still don't then it becomes a pursuit).

I see, thanks for clarifying.

Huh, I've only heard aggressive ones. I like the idea, but how would the player choose between passive and aggressive PA's? Or would it be like you start being passive, and then if they run away it turns into aggressive PA's?

That's what I was thinking, yes, by splitting the voice files into passive and aggressive folders so that the mod knows which one to use in whichever situation.

I don't think it will be a problem to attach the neutral sounding files to the 'pullover' key. Aggressive soundfiles can also be attached to another key if you really want to use them during a pursuit. If I remember correctly this was actually the case in lcpdfr. But somebody may correct me on that.

I personally like the automated way better, but if shift is still the pullover key then maybe left shift could be a passive PA and the right could be an aggressive PA. I really like this idea, I hope it gets added :D

That sounds like a good idea, but does right shift actually count as its own key?

Absolutely! I'm pretty sure that if you try running in GTA with the right shift button, it doesn't work. That means that the game only recognizes the left shift button. A lot of people think they're the same because they have the same function when typing, but they're technically different keys

Great, maybe that's the best way to implement it, so that players have a choice of being a "realistic" police officer, or just an asshole who yells at everyone :P

Or perhaps Lshift could be normal stop, and Rshift could be a felony stop where you order the driver out. That would be amazing.

I don't see a scenario where  you need to pull someone over and want them out of the car immediately, unless it's like a high speed chase and even then they wouldn't stop because you shouted at them. Plus, if you wanted them out of the car then just pull them over and ask them to get out of the car

Well, if ANPR is implemented and it shows the plates as belonging to a person with a warrant, it could be useful.
