Let's talk about GTA V!

Featured Replies

Hello fellow officers,

Many people have arrested their last criminal in GTA IV already, ending a great era. (GTAIV.exe Has stopped working.) And are moving on to the next chapter. GTA V.

This is a place to share your moments, ask questions about the gameplay, share info and tips and anything else basically.

I just wanted to thank Rockstar for putting so much effort into the port. My crappy laptop with a 1gb mobile AMD card, 4gb of RAM and a crappy i5 can run the game decently on normal settings. It was worth all the delays (It pains me to say it but it is true)

Anyway, share your stuff below! How was your launch day?

  • Well, it took me 20+ minutes to get my pre load off 99%. The game looks great although last night it wouldn't let me play online hopefully today I'll be able to.

Let's just say.. It didn't run too hot with an Intel Core i3 at 2.4 GHz and *Intel HD graphics 4000, especially on a laptop. Less than 20 FPS with frame and audio stuttering even on the smallest resolution (and minimum settings). Anxious for my summertime PC upgrade.

Funny part is, actually, there's no "low" settings, just "normal," "high," "very high," and "ultra."

Misinformation on original post.

Honestly, with the amount of optimization this game has, "normal" is quite low and should be able to run on most computers. That said, Intel HD graphics aren't going to have a fun time, neither are dual core processors.

Has anybody else taken a look through the game files? This seems to be the most packed, and un-modable GTA to date :( Everything is locked up in their RPF archives, and I feel like it'll be a while until we get the key to unlock them.

I was just looking at this... I was hoping to mess around with car handling.dat a weapons.xml ;__;

After spending 5 hours downloading 5GBs (thank you Rockstar for constantly dropping my download rate to 80kb/s), I finally got into the game and played it for a solid 4-5 hours. It looks beautiful and runs pretty well on my 770, but I can't max it out without a significant frame drop.

I also found one of these puppies.

Well I have to say, it would've been nice if it were possible to lower the Graphics settings more. Despite what the settings tell you, you're pretty much stuck with Very High or Ultra due to some unnecessary things running that should be optional (speedometers for example, since I don't play in first person). I get an average of 32 FPS and my GPU wants to run around 76-80 degrees (way too hot), which is unacceptable for my specs....

I even had to drop my resolution to a stupid level, and drop the detail distance below half. While the game may look great, it's poorly optimized for anyone with less than a GTX 980, which I feared would happen.

I have the 4GB version of the GTX 770 and an i7 4770K and I can run the game on Very High, SSAA on, MSAA x4 at around 46-50FPS just fine. If I crank up the MSAA to x8 though, it drops to around 30FPS.

So true. They didn't consider lower-end PC gamers.
