What does modding mean to you?

Featured Replies

What does modding mean to you? Do you think mods are disadvantages, advantages or simply don't care. For me, I find mods to be huge advantages. They expand on games and give you the freedom for various things.

My friend told his dad about mods here's what he said: "Mods are cheats. They are good for nothing. They break the game. Thay also ruin the game for you and everyone playing. Only morons use mods." I belive mods are a very good thing. They connect the player with the game. They expand the imagination. I couldn't live without them. I believe my friends's father is very narrow minded on the subject.

Not sure why any company wouldn't support mods. They can sell more copies of their product off of mods.

Many companies don't support modding so they can continue to make games. That way the player will have to buy DLC/sequels to get their fix for additional content. Just how business works.

As for what modding means to me? Modding is modifying your game for better or for worse. (the worse end probably falling into the hacking scene)

Also, buying a game just for the next inkling of LCPDFR? Come on. There's sooooo much you can do in the world of GTA: Online.

inb4 GTA V WONT BE MODIFIABLE EUGUHHHHGHGHGH

Shut up, it will be. We will all find a way, be quiet.

Mods are a really good thing, they make the game live for a long time, it also connects people from different countries for the same reason. On a personnal scale I only bought GTA IV because of LCPD:FR ^^

I know right... It would motivate people to buy the product.. or they would torrent it, either or

Mods are the reason LCPDFR exists, therefore after a crap day I can come home to some action with pursuits and shootouts.

Yeah its always good coming home to LCPDFR after a bad day, love it

Yeah same, lcpdfr is amazing ... If gta iv didn't support mods the PC sales wouldn't nearly be as high

I love mods. The only games I continue playing for a long time are the ones that are modded.

Exactly my thoughts

I barely mod games, The only games i have ever modded were The Sims 3 or GTA (SA and IV). However from my experience, mods are an advantage.. then again it depends on what you mod and how you use them. if you're modding to get an advantage in online multiplayer then that is just lame.. Those type of mods shouldn't exist since they just ruin the fun completely.

With mods that alter single player, they can be fun.. LCPD:FR, Zombie, Carmageddon, Tsunami mods etc THOSE mods what make the vanilla game better!

Because it could lead to hackers hacking into the companies databases. Thats what happened with valve in 2003 with HL2

I love mods also.  Plus most the time, its a good way to peak into a game and see how "professional" code is written.  I like games that are very transparent - Don't Starve for example, which uses heavy scripts they left open for the community, with comments - is a wonderful example.

Modding to me means, to change from the original state for better or worse - I think as someone else has said.  The intended purpose is meant to improve from the original product... either for advantage, or adding depth.

Help my channel grow and I can explain to my wife why this addiction to coding is a good thing!
