Obama at the national prayer breakfast

Featured Replies

hmmm. it seems to me most people have missed the main point of this issue. The fact Obama would rather justify IS actions by comparing them to another religion is problem enough. Regardless if Christianity was a problem back in the day or whatever the main problem here is rather than standing up as a LEADER of a nation and saying (Like Jordan) that we will crush the IS, our president would rather attempt to justify it.

I am really not interested in the liberal vs conservative bullshit, it's this bipartisan setup that has fucked over the nation but regardless of your political support you have to be dumber than a loaf of bread if you believe Obama and his legion of doom have positive American foreign and domestic intentions in mind. He's been a scandalous pathetic excuse of a president from the start and will continue to be a disappointment until 2016...no surprises here

How a comparison is a justification in any way?

You know I really don't think he is justifying ISIS, but rather he's saying don't forget the past. Also, I'm really tired of people saying "oh Obama is such a bad president, impeach him!" Look, there's a lot things Obama has done wrong, but there has been a lot of things he has done right, you just choose to ignore it (eg. Free community college). Don't get me wrong, I want ISIS gone as much as the next person, the president is trying to take action (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/congress-face-thorny-vote-obama-isis-war-powers-article-1.2105526) we just have to wait and see.

Hopefully the president actually does do something. Kind of like he's been trying to do something about illegal immigration. And how he's been trying to do something about US troops in Afghanistan. Or gay marriage. Or gun ownership.

Chester you do realize that "free community college" means that taxes will be raised and taxpayers will be paying for it right? As for yet again the crusades, the WHOLE reason they were fought was to take back the 2/3 of the world that muslims took over. They took all land from everyone and weren't stopping. Maybe you should read the history of the crusades and educate yourself. It wasn't about conquering or religious sects trying to convert them, I would love to know how many innocent Christians and jews were murdered by muslims before the crusades were fought taking that land from them. If your from France, I would think you especially would be pissed with terrorists in your OWN country killing those people at that newspaper for mocking Allah when at the same time they also mocked Jesus Christ and God as well. Where were Christians and Jews when they did this? Didn't hear of any Christians or Jews murdering anyone involved with the satirical cartoon. ISIS is a cancer that needs to be destroyed. They aren't doing this for Allah or anyone else, they are doing this because they want to rule the world and have EVERY country under Sharia Law. The sooner we accept and recognize that the sooner we can eliminate this threat to our well being.

The Muslims didn't kill anyone for the land, Islam is a peaceful religion and they haven't killed anybody. If they did they would go to hell. You seriously need to be educated before you talk about anything bad about Islam.

That is a point I try to prove. People only say the mistakes he has made and not the good. It's sort of like that old saying " Stop worrying about what you don't have but be thankful for what you do have". People need to be more thankful for all the good he has done and quit worrying him about the things he has not done or any mistakes. For example look at the gas prices now. I'm thankful for that. But a lot of people want what's best for them all the time but don't want what's best for the US (selfish). So I wish people would just let him do his job and that's all I got to say. I'm out.

Goodness what a thread. This is no ordinary thread I must follow it to see how it plays out. However, before I do I would like to make a few points and then fade back into the crowd.

Point #1 Mr.Obama was sworn in as a Methodist, the country that he hails from originally (Though he's an American now) is 83% christian and lastly if he did practice Islam it would be a known fact, as religion in such a high political office is a rather hard thing to conceal.

Point #2 The comparison Mr.Obama was attempting to make was that of the superfluous loss of life caused by extreme zealousness in that era (Not dissin either side yo).

The bi partisan arguing is why other nations can't take us Americans and our politics seriously, for Pete's sake cut it out and discuss the point of the comparison.

(This is a suggestion, by no means is is meant to be offensive to anyone.)

Of course not all people are the same, but liberal ideology is, regardless of who you talk to. There are hypocrites that are conservatives, but the conservative ideology is straight forward. Liberalism is not only contradictory, but it's hypocritical. Liberals claim they know what's best for the country, what's best for the American people, yet they only make decisions that gain them more support and votes. They don't care, they just want to hold office.

Lol

Conservatism honors traditional American morals and values. The right to bear arms, man and woman marriages, honoring Americas military, a strong education system, secured borders, etc. Liberalism implies the expression of new ideas and new ways to go about solving problems. I have no issue with that. I start to have issues when liberals act as if they're the saviors of America for the sole purpose of gaining votes. Conservatives care more about the health of America and upholding traditional American values, like the ones I described above, than gaining votes.

If conservatives care so much about the health of America maybe they wouldn't have wasted $70 million trying to repeal The Affordable Care Act.

Please tell me that you're joking.

First things first, it wasn't for mocking Allah, but for mocking Mahomet, who is a prophet. Then, considering I'm from France, I'll just make something clear. Even though those terrible events did occur and were organized by extremists, you should be aware that a good part of the muslim community in France didn't say anything about Mahomet's caricature. Why? Because some people just have a sense of humor and take a joke as it is. No need to bring jews and christians in there. Only people with no sense of humor are offended by cartoons and jokes (and those people are also present in the christian and jewish community).

Besides, two days BEFORE the terrorist attacks, the three most important religious leaders of the east of the country (from all religions, be it christianism, judaism or islam) gathered and asked for a law about blasphemy to be abbrogated in this part of the country (which was the last area of France still having a law condemning blasphemy). Two days BEFORE the attacks. That shows that the muslim community is actually quite open about freedom of speech.

Very interesting situation in France indeed. We will continue to watch and see how things play out.

And the sooner we drop the idea of political correctness and accept common sense, the sooner we will have world peace.

The world wasn't peaceful before the notion of political correctness and it certainly wouldn't be if it was dropped.

Are you a psykick? If not, how is it that you can tell what the future would be like without the idea of political correctness? Political correctness is what's holding society back.

It didn't exist until recently, Wikipedia says the late 20th century. I'd say the world wasn't doing so well before then. Because someone wants to be called by the proper terminology isn't holding anything back. I do understand it can be excessive, but more often than not, I don't think it impacts society in any significant way.

I feel that political correctness holds society back because it contradicts with common sense. We're so worried about offending a particular group of people, that we're being blinded to what's obvious. Islamic terrorism is taking a sharp increase, and because of this "Not all Muslims are terrorists" ideology, people are avoiding reality. Nobody wants to admit that there is a problem with Islamic terrorism because nobody wants to offend Muslims.

"Not all Muslim's are terrorists" isn't an ideology. It's a fact.

Not necessarily. Just because a Muslim isn't blowing up buildings doesn't mean that they aren't a terrorist. Like Martin Luther King, I had a dream. I had a dream of a world where one day there was Islam, and the next day there wasn't. The world was at the brink of absolute international peace. I'm not saying that all Muslims are terrorists, but I'm also NOT saying that all Muslims are NOT terrorists. I have mixed feelings about Islam.

I don't know what to tell you other than that you're wrong...
