    IRC is dying. Nobody really uses it but criminals (warez, anonymous, child pornography rings). It's banned from most networks, too.

    At the ISP I worked at it was flat out banned, and you'd get your server suspended for hosting one. And rightly so.

    The only thing I've ever seen IRC used for in terms of recent use was picking up "ringers" for Counter Strike Source games if your clan didn't have enough people for a scrim or a match, and this was years ago.
