As people have stated above me, I think the ELS would only be needed for light patterns.

I don't think that such an modification would be required.

 

I've tested the police cars in GTA V, and I believe that the existing mechanic is the best.

In my opinion, I see no real need for it at all. Granted, I don't think it's needed in GTA iv or its episodes either. It's a matter of taste I suppose :)

​I believe that it's a matter of realism though. Because wouldn't you want to be able to sit in a vehicle with just the lights on? without els cars are always stopped and wont move with lights and sirens on. also it makes for more realistic responses including the time when you arrive on scene. It's a little annoying and excessive to have the siren on blaring in people's faces.

​Reviving an old thread there, but I do agree. It may not be necessary, but would be amazing if we had it. With ELS there would be much more light customization, it would work way better with any realistic lightbar mods or vehicles, you could control the light patterns and siren tones, and also bloom or glare. So in my opinion, if we want police lights and sirens to be controlled realistically we need some sort of ELS. But hey, first we need to wait for vehicle mods anyway.

​Agreed, a real Police gaming would not be one without ELS. 

I agree that the existing ELS in the game is great. I'm personally happy with it, but I know this community. Realism is always a pursuit so I would bet money on their being a modded system that allows for greater customization. Different warning lights, rear only etc etc.

They put strobes in the tail lights, but none in the front area of the vehicles, would be nice to have.

R* did a really good job with the police lights this time around.

That being said I still would like to eventually see an ELS type mod that would allow for the level of customization that ELS currently enables for IV. Hopefully whatever R* did in V will provide a jumpstart to development. I'm sure it will also be more stable that way too.

A little more brightness to the new LEDs would be better, though.
