The surest sign that the bid process for hosting the Olympics is broken is actually not the trail of bribe money or crony-rich government contracts at the feet of International Olympic Committee members.

Sure, bribery might – might, maybe, allegedly, perhaps – be how a now abandoned Olympic Village got built in some muddy, bulldozed acreage south of Sochi, Russia, rather than in Salzburg, Austria, home to Mozart, the Sound of Music and postcard pictures.

That's the cause, though, not the effect.

Good. The cities they host it in keep getting worse and worse each year. Bejing sucked due to all the pollution and the allegations of cheating, and Sochi was arguably worse in some ways due to corrupt officials and police, questionable behavior towards Americans and other "westerners" and the fact that the city was essentially a slum that Putin tried to clean up at the last minute. Now we're down to f*cking Kazakhstan? You're going to host the Olympics in Borat country? Get a grip. Even if I had spent two years training for the Olympics, I'd seriously consider skipping the next competition due to its location.

Awesome, maybe now they'll stop cancelling my damn shows on TV instead of showing sports!

Oh well, I really don't care considering the fact i don't even watch sports and the cities they host them in are getting worse.

Really? Is that all you know Kazakhstan for? There is much more to Kazakhstan than that. They have a thriving economy (one of the largest in Central Asia) and a very advanced information and communication network. They are actually a very respectable country and I have found that very few people know much about the countries in that region. Everyone just hears that the country ends in "stan" and assumes its a shitty country, probably because of our experience in Afghanistan.
