Officer Report system?

Featured Replies

Greetings Everyone,

So I have been reading a lot of suggestions about how to improve LCPDFR in future versions and many state some of the same suggestions over and over but there was an idea that I would like to put out there that is similar to the ones already given and would like to see if anyone else is interested in it.

Many have asked to have a report system built into the game where the officer would write a report on the people they arrest and ticket.  I would like to see this implemented because it makes it more realistic that the officer need to write a report after the alleged incident and state exactly what the suspect is being arrested for since we can probably arrest for multiple reasons.  This got me thinking of why not take it a step further and implement a saving system so we can view these reports out of game.  When we write the report and submit the report we the game could save a file in a specified folded and we could open it with word, notepad or as an HTML document.

A similar system was developed for the game Silent Hunter III the program was designed by a fan called SH3 Commander which allowed the game to save the patrols and information in a HTML format and I thought it was pretty darn cool.  I’m not sure how easy this would be if even at all possible but it’s an idea none the less.

It has been brought up before, but I think the main issue is that a lot of people want a good balance between realism and fun. Writing a report for each incident just doesn't sound very fun to me, and it doesn't sound very fun in the long run, either. That's my opinion though.

Very true but it could simply be put into a option in the ini file for people to turn on and off right?  I'm not sure if it would even be worth the time for someone to make though.

Well, you always can open MS Word or Notepad and write a report or two, print it, sign and stamp... Besides, in my country on-scene reports are usually done by pen, so it's easy to do even now.

I mean, if the point is to view those reports out of the game.

This reminds me of the old police MDC that used to be linked here on lcpdfr.com. The one that was run by Braveheart.

I LOVED that website, as you would be able to generate random names for your suspects/victims, and could in essence build a virtual record for people that in turn, could be interacted with by other officers. I have fond memories of that, especially completeing a few warrants that other officers had issued on some really tough criminals, and for me, it added tons of immersion. They even had a feature were your suspect could walk if you didn't provide enough evidence, wrote a shoddy/unlegible report or the crimes you were trying to charge him or her with weren't reasonable, as they had prosecutors. That was some real satisfaction when your perp was given some prison time when you knew they deserved it, and it helped me to learn some important police procedures in order to have a higher chance that my arrests would turn into convictions.

I really miss that old MDC website, and have been looking unsuccessfully for another like it.

But, I digress, back to your suggestion, because of my past experience with the MDC they used to have, I would be 100% all for this. I love the idea, especially if it's optional. That way, players who may not want to have to deal with stuff like reports and the writing involved could easily skip over it.

Good suggestion!

This could be a good idea if it was maybe put into the little F key menu that's in LCPDFR, like frisking a suspect, you can do it or you can not do it, so make it up to the player if they decide to write a report or not. Then maybe put all reports into a folder maybe inside the LCPDFR folder
