LCPD & FDLC Mod Pack, your opinions please

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Fairly new to re-skinning vehicles for GTA IV. However I think I have a half decent pack of vehicles, do you think it is worth continuing with the pack and uploading it to here?

Let me know what you think, I have gone for a simple scheme that is consistent across the vehicles whilst keeping them with how I would envisage LCPD and FDLC.

I have attached screenshots of the vehicles and the descriptions are as below:

GTA IV - Tried to keep this to the main vehicles people would need.

police = marked LCPD general patrol car

police2 = marked LCPD patrol car

polpat = marked LCPD grainger

noose = marked bravado, for LCPD Highway patrol

fbi = unmarked bravado, could be FIB or LCPD

pstockade = LCPD Special Tactics and Weapons van

nstockade = LCPD STAW command and control truck

firetruk = replacement ELS firetruk

ambulance = replacement ELS ambulance

GTA IV tBoGT - additional vehicles that are nice to have!

police3 = unmarked grainger, for LCPD or FIB

police4 = marked k-9 grainger

policeb = LCPD marked police bike

policew = LCPD transport van

apc = LCPD riot control van

Additional vehicles for ELS slots Emerg1 to 7, not essential but fun to use, my thoughts would these would be more useful for the role playing community.

1 = FDLC Rescue Truck

2 = FDLC Ladder Truck

3 = FDLC Command Truck

4 = FDLC Chief Jeep

5 = FDLC Mobile Hospital

6 = FIB Command Centre

7 = Mett Coroners Van

Sorry, some of the pics have not come out well, they are much darker than what they were in GTA!

  • You should make the blue more darker, like with the original LCPD cars.

  • Make sure you have added  modelname, vehshare_truck in the vehicles.ide file after vehshare_truck, vehshare .

Looks good to me, though I'd suggest to make the blue lines of the livery parallel to the windows on the police and police2, to add some dynamism and make the whole thing more harmonious.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

Yes after using them in game and seeing them driving around I think they would look better to follow the bodywork of the vehicle. I didn't initially do it as:

a) Straights lines where much quicker!

b) Wasn't sure if an agency would care or if they would just sticker them up?

c) Wanted to ensure both sides of the vehicle matched, diagonal lines would have been harder to match up.

I shall give it ago!

I would make the stripes the same color as the lcpd. other then that they are pretty good. and alot better then my first skins

In my opinion, I would either make all the vehicle R* created vehicles or all real life vehicles. I saw you had a Brute Ambulance and a Declasse Granger in there, then I see a Pierce and a Harley Davidson Motorcycle. I would chose one or the other.

BTW I have the Western Sovereign ELS if you would like to replace the H.D. one:

Hi guys, thanks again for the replies, it is great how people are responding with what I was thinking too!

TheOneHick, yes, my initial plan was to use r* agencies and vehicles, this turned to where possible. My plan is to go back through the vehicles and edit the other textures to turn them into r* world vehicles. Thank you for the offer of the bike I will have a look at it, ELS doesn't work too well with the one I have.

So my plan is now:

  1. Go through the models, double check for any issues, bad placed text, spell check etc.
  2. Check the ELS config for each vehicle, they all use the default at the moment and some of the big trucks the orange lights flash half way down the vehicle.
  3. Re-badge to r* vehicles where applicable.
  4. Alter the stripes for police1, police2 and the speedo transport to follow the body work better.
  5. Possibly release a pack with darker blue coloured stripes.
  6. Possibly add livery options for the common vehicles you would see in traffic.
  7. As a personal one, release a third set with all the vehicles re-skinned as in an English batten burg design if wanted.

Two questions, how do you stop emerg1 to 7 spawning in traffic when you drive them and how license plates work on emergency vehicles, is there anything specific about them?

Thank you guys.

Add the EMERG cars to # POPCYCLE_GROUP_COPS in common/data/cargrp to stop them from spawning in traffic.

License plates are mapped to the liveries, so if a livery changes, the plate changes as well.

Hi,

Putting them in the police group would mean you could have fire engines joining a chase couldnt it?

Is it possible to create a new group?

Sorry what I meant about the license plates is are they special government plates that look any different from civ cars?

I have updated the stripes on police & police2. Took a few other shots of stuff during the day too. I have just noticed I need to change the wording on the fire granger too, it should be FD LC not LC FD!

Replace the badges next I think and sort the LCPD transport van, then try the other bike.....

Hi guys

Another question please if you are able to help, when I view a model in Open IV, it all looks correct. However when I spawn the vehicle in game, it is often missing the interior textures. How is this fixed, I have missed something from a vehicle or handling line?

Screenshots attached.

WOW this looks great. Man if only my game didn't crash when I modify more than 1 car. Maybe GTA 5 though. I'll still be giving this pack a download when it's released though. I'll just have to use 1 at a time. But again, fantastic work here!!!
