Need Help Just Started!

I just started I got the actual mod downloaded and started to play but I realized that everything cool I saw on youtube was not really included so I was wondering if someone could help me with quite a few questions I have. First would be were can I find the controls for this game either for Keyboard or controller? Secondly which are the essential modes to get the most kickass experience which for me is mainly traffic stops, nice sirens and cars, and anything that would give me more things to do in the game like new calls and situations? Lastly when I download these mods do i have to do anything else or will they automatically download into the games? I have windows and I am using it on steam. Thanks you whoever can help

The controls are included in the user manual that comes with the mod. LCPDFR.com offers a ton of vehicles and ped and siren mods you can use in your game. LCPDFR's interactive API system is what can give you new calls, you can install that in your game to. And when you wanna install all these mods, use SparkIV or OpenIV, links below;

SparkIV:https://code.google.com/p/gtaivtools/downloads/detail?name=SparkIV%200.7.0%20Beta%201.zip&

OpenIV:http://openiv.com/

You need OpenIV import the mods into GTAIV. http://openiv.com/

Do you know anything about sirens, vehicle models etc...?

What city/police department are you interested in? LCPD/NYPD? LAPD?

I don't use LCPDFR, so I can't give you help there.

Yep wrong section.

If you get car mods, just don't go on random games with them please. You'll crash the game for yourself and others eventually. If you want to play with car mods online, make sure your friends will also have the exact same cars.

Don't forget all mods as a whole.

Looking on YouTube and this site in the Tutorials section (LINK) is going to be your best friend because there is a learning curve to install mods, not a big one but its not as simple as breathing. As for the mods themselves there really isn't anything in particular that anyone can tell you to use because its really your personal taste and likes as far as cars/guns/peds go. There are some "core" and "commonly used" mods but I'll talk about those below. The downloads section (LINK) is a good place to start looking. Here are some of the more popular modders, you can find them through the member search and view their files through their profile or just watch out for their names when your looking through the downloads. EVI, Cj-24, Lt.Caine, BxBugs123, NicolaiB, Sgt.Kanyo, NickieB . There are a lot more, thats just all I can pull off the top of my head. If you like a car though don't hesitate to download it regardless of who its created by. As for mods, they've already told you to download OpenIV and SparkIV to install mods but there are some other core mods you'll probably want which help enhance game play. Keep in mind though that the more you add the more you risk instability and "unstable" is GTA IV's middle name...

The "core" mods I spoke of:

ELS v8 (or v7 or v6 - some prefer that to v8 but v8 is the most recent and advanced)

SNT (Simple Native Trainer)

LCPD:FR v 1.0c

Police helper

Spotlight mod

Tow Truck mod

Most of the above can be found on this site and other popular GTA IV gaming sites. Some may argue with my list but feel free to add to it to help this guy out

Just for your reference here is what I run in my game: LCPD:FR v1.0, ELS v8, SNT, Police helper, Spotlight mod, policing callout script, Radar mod, Advanced Car Actions, Code 3 Mastercom B siren, and various car, gun, and ped models. I use to run a bunch of other scripts but I recently removed them trying to improve stability.

Please don't tell members where to post. This topic is not posted in the wrong section as it is more of a general discussion about GTA IV modding as a whole.

I'm not using that many mods myself, but I can recommend to use pretty much any mod made by Olanov and Custo. If you want to add extra vanilla stuff I can recommend Yard1 and DLer. And as has been said above, a simple search on Google or similar will get you far!

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium
