iBuyPower vs iBuyPower?

Featured Replies

Hey guys!

Any opinions on these two computers? I have already asked about the NewEgg iBuyPower Desktop Computer but I was curious as to which one is better for the price?

**(One of them is on Craigslist!)**

NewEgg iBuyPower Desktop:

Craigslist iBuyPower Desktop:

I know that the Craigslist one is probably better, but would you guys buy a used one like that?

Thanks again for all of your help!

Since the craigs list one has actual viruses on it, that he willingly installed (Norton) I would not recommend using it. Buying a used computer is a bit of a gamble. You don't know which state the parts are in.

I'd recommend buildig your own pc with the help of a friend, or if someone can help you here in the community.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

I would stay away from used PCs, especially for gaming. You're much better off building your own PC.

You never know how the PC has been used in the past, & it might even be nearing it's end life, in which case it would be a waste of your money.

Building a PC isn't as hard as many people think. It's easy once you know which parts you want to buy (even if you don't, ask in a gaming/PC forum).

And even if you don't want to bother buy parts & putting it together, I'm sure there's shops in your city that build custom PCs. Just ask a shop that sells PC parts, & either they might build it for you, or point you in the right direction.

Building a PC will always give you the best bang-for-your-buck. Always.

But if you still want a opinion b/w those two, the newegg would be your better bet.  Craigslist doesn't have a good general reputation (at least with me),

I see they're both in the $650-700 range. Again, I would like to stress that building a custom PC with $700 will give you more power than those 2 PCs you listed. Not to mention newer parts with better technology.

Thank you guys for your responses!

Yes, almost everyone has recommended that I build my own gaming computer... but for example, on the newegg computer if you wanted to build one exactly like that but you wanted to build it yourself it would end up costing you WAY more than what newegg is charging. You have to think of the price of the operating system and fans and all the other gadgets you would need. I think when it added up it was a hundred or two dollars more to build it yourself.

Anyways if you guys have any custom builds you would recommend I will definitely consider them.

Thanks again for your help!

Not true, building a computer can be cheaper. Also you can build it to your spec, What I did was buy a low end computer bought a new case,Processor, and graphics card and it was to bad money wise. However coming down to computer knowledge do you know how to build/install parts?

Well, then I don't know why this one added up to be more expensive to build then just buy. I am getting more familiar with parts recently but I probably wouldn't be able to build and install my own computer without some help.

Well most people don't know this but... There's almost always a local computer shop that you may not have seen yet that will gladly put it together for you. My local shop (CNC) only charges $30.00 but this may differ from place to place. Do a Google search for your area, just type in "(your area) Computer Shop". Find their address and/or phone number and see if they do it and how much they charge. Let me know if this helps and happy gaming!!!

That is what I always advice people who don't want/can't build their own PCs.

Go to your local PC shop & ask them, they will most likely put together a custom PC for you or give you directions to a shop that does.

You don't even need to know what parts you want, just tell them you want a custom PC for <insert price range here> & they will build one for you. And if you want to verify that you're getting the best parts (if you're the suspicious type), then just ask them to write down what parts they're going to use & post it on a gaming/PC forum asking if it's best build for the price.

It's also one of the ways to get familiar with parts & putting together a custom PC. You can even request that the custom PC be built in your presence & you can see how the parts fit together, how to install the drivers, etc.

Simple & easy as pie! :D
