When you say things like that, I question your specs in your signature.

Grab a GTX 750 Ti SC instead,

Or not. A 770 is a 780 with about a 5% performance difference, which an OC can fix.

Comparison for dummies: http://www.hwcompare.com/17293/geforce-gtx-750-ti-vs-geforce-gtx-770/

That's terrible also. All the cards you're looking at are less than $100 for a reason. Anything under a 650/750 is useless, and you still only have a mediocre card until you look at the 660/760 range and above.

I probably should have googled this but can you overclock a Factory Overclocked Card?

What's your budget? I wouldn't spend any less than $240.

Why do you have an i7 and a GT 635?   :wallbash:

Probably because he bought his computer from Best Buy or some other retailer that way and never changed it. It's likely a Dell or something. Those companies love advertising computers as having dedicated graphics but it's just an attempt to grab more money. They throw in a useless PCI Express graphics cards and call it a gaming computer.

Yes but I wouldn't advise it. It's called overclocking for a reason. You're upping the clock speed of the card by increasing voltage and increasing heat beyond it's factory capabilities.

Won't be doing that then...thank you

No problem. I'm not saying "never do it ever" by the way, but it's not a decision to take lightly since it can shorten the lifespan of your parts or break them if you do it wrong.

I definitely understand and that's the thing I want this card to last long term plus going from a 630 to a 770 I don't even want to take the risk yet until I need to

The GTX 770 is a great card, I've had mine for about half a year now and it'll run whatever you throw at it.

For the price you pay, it bloody well should.

I'm being cheap and buying it refurbished

The 770 is 350 plus, if you can afford it by all means get the 770. Great card.

The video card is the most important component of a desktop gaming computer with the exception of the processor. It should be a big investment. Currently it's actually going for $330, but $350 is a bargain compared to the $500 cost of the top of the range model 780. A 770 is a 780 that didn't come off of the assembly line with the correct amount of shader cores or couldn't clock itself as high with stable results. So they're very inexpensive for how powerful they are.

Agreed. Some people get a Titan when you can pick up a 780 Ti for a lot cheaper and just overclock it a bit and performance is on par.
