Who Has Watch Dogs On AMD Hardware?

Recommended Posts

So i have an AMD graphics card (AMD HD Radeon 7670) and i was reading some reviews on Watch Dogs on steam and some people say it runs terrible on AMD hardware because from what i know Nvidia made a deal with Ubisoft to make the game more optimized with their hardware instead of AMD. So how do you guys feel? Is watch dogs worth buying on PC or should i just get it on Xbox 360?

Here is a video i found.

Here are some quotes from AMD users on steam (Quite Long)

"Utterly unoptimized for AMD cards. I have 2 R9 280x's running crossfire, and had to disable crossfire just to get the game to work without serious graphical issues. Running on a single card I'm getting 40fps at the most, but often driving around it will dip below 15fps. This is utterly unacceptable. I would highly discourage AMD users from buying Watch Dogs until Ubisoft get their ♥♥♥♥ together and fix this mess." -

"Really disappointed with Ubisoft on this one. I was excited to hear when they were pushing back the release date because it would mean a more polished game at launch right?
Ubisoft made this game for Nvidia rigs only. If you have ANY AMD components, you'll likely suffer the same fate as me, crashes gallore (this isn't AMD's fault - more on this later). I have a Nvidia GTX 770 but an AMD FX830 processor. I thought I would be fine with a Nvidia card.
I thought wrong. After doing some googling it turns out that Ubisoft gave AMD the back of its hand and worked exclusively with Nvidia in the creation of this game. Essentially, Nivida was allowed to place as much input as it wanted into the development of Watchdogs, but AMD wasn't allowed to even say hello. The result?
Terrible performance (and crashes) with AMD rigs until AMD scrambles to put up a driver patch just because Ubisoft played favorites. Don't count on Ubisoft riding in to fix the problem for AMD users- Nvidia paid them off to make sure nothing like that's gonna happen. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bash on Nvidia, I've been a long time fan of their cards, but Ubisoft needs to work openly with both manufacturers and not play favorites or the whole pc gaming community will end up suffering as a result." - Quote from Zarathustra

nVidia.....................

....The way it's meant to be played.

In all seriousness, Watch_Dogs uses nVidia's "GameWorks" toolkit which is why it is so much more optimized for nVidia GPU's. I imagine the AMd fanbase will be disgruntled by this and some form of patch will come along to make it a bit better. But with the game built on GameWorks, don't expect much.

Your best bet for playability is probably xbox 360, but the graphical experience wont be the same. (this is assuming the reviews are accurate)

But don't let me sway your opinion, I have it for PC on nVidia graphics so, I am quite biased towards nVidia.

Yea consoles having bad graphics on some games is what turns me away from buying anymore console games

I have to disagree with this review, it runs just fine on my AMD FX-8350 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 780.

Yeah, I'm getting buttery smooth FPS on mine. Ubisoft actually undershot their own Optimization. I'm playing on an i5 2320 at 3ghz, with 6GB ram, and an r9 280x 3gb vram, and I'm playing on Ultra with FPS around 50-65. Actually genuinely disappointed it doesn't look better than it does. They totally killed off like all particle effects compared to what they showed at E3.

I was crashing every 5 minutes with HD5870 (Graphic card driver stop responding and successfully recover.) and I Downloaded the new drivers. and now i play full HD with sweetfx at 50 fps and its awesome. I can record HD at 20 with fraps but cant drive because it lag cuts (loading cars and ped + fraps take too much memory)
