Desktop Dispatching Software

Recommended Posts

So as everyone is well aware, I have been working on a online version of my previous Desktop Dispatching Program. Its been a slow and quite aggravating process thus far, but I think I have gotten it to where I think we might be at a releasable base version. I am finishing up a few things in the programming trying to get it as optimized as possible, so there is a very high possibility that I will have a beta version uploaded within the next 3-4 days.

I will post some screen shots and some more information about the program later today since it is 3 am and I am a zombie right now. The LCPSR (Liberty County Public Safety Roleplay) is my testing group and from what I am being told by our dispatchers is that this program is extremely helpful when running multiple dispatchers at the same time since they can see the same things in real time.

 So far what is completed:
  • All information is saved to a database, which can (in the future) be recalled at any time
  • All dispatchers can see the same information once uploaded to the database
  • Incident tracking
  • NCIC (National Criminal Incident Computer) what is used to perform Person/License Plate lookup
  • BOLO Tracking (Be On the Look Out) AKA APB (All Points Bullitin)
  • Admin defined fields for incidents including (Incident Types, Dispositions)
  • Admins are able to create user accounts for users
  • Admins are able to create units
  • Dispatchers are able to assign beats on a floating basis
  • Much More

 What is planned:
  • Reporting Module - So users can file incident reports that will be saved to database
  • Reports will be able to be printed off or saved to computer
  • Database for saving person records so it will keep track of every person your department pulls over
  • Database for saving license plate records
  • Complete customization of program for skinning

This is some pretty neat stuff!

Great job so far, I look forward to seeing future updates as they come!  :woot:

+1 SCSDDeputy

Thanks, if you have any suggestions im open for them, the bolo aka apb portion was a suggestion from one of our dispatchers

So is this like something that someone in a clan would use instead of playing in the game they would have this open and use it to control all the other players?  I was racking my tired brain for a while trying to figure out how it would work, thinking it was an MDC type thing meant to be used while ingame, but then I realised it looked like it was for dispatching.

I actually remember back when we had FCRP running (a San Andreas Multiplayer roleplay/real life simulation type server for those of you unaware), the cops on it tried to do something like this but there didn't seem to be any decent applications for it, with the only ones being actual commercial ones used in the real world.  This looks like it might solve that problem!

Pretty much dead on Sam. This is an out of game application that runs on windows (7 and above) out of game. Basically, i know that for us (LCPSR) We wanted something that would keep track of all the units that we in a patrol, and it would let us know who was available, where they were, what kind of call they were on.... and so forth. It is essientially an MDC type system, however it is unable to connect to anything in game. I am not profoundly good at coding for GTA, but im working on it slowly, so it may eventually become something that could be accessible while in game.

I saw in the download description that you plan on adding some additional functionality to it in terms of having reports and such.  I thought I might share with you my experience of this as back on FCRP, NicolaiB who was the sheriff, wanted a much more in depth MDC system which would let people write reports in-game.  Obviously this was a bit of a challenge to script in but it was also hard from an organisational standpoint, as there were to be reports for evidence, for incidents, for arrests, etc. and obviously when we were going on a basis of about 300-350 arrests per month (an insane number, I know, it was like Detroit) it was going to be quite hard to keep up with the volume of reports coming in.

To get around this, NB came up with the idea of working with case files instead, allowing you to submit a case file (which despite the name, worked more like a folder) and it would include just some very basic attributes like name, date and time.  So, with the case file created, you would be able to click a button to add reports to it by choosing a report type (e.g. arrest, incident, evidence, interview, other), filling in the details specific to that report type and then submitting it.  Then, instead of having a big list of reports, you would have a big list of cases and within each case there would be reports specific to that case.  This worked really well in this scenario anyway, as there was often trouble with taxi drivers being ridiculously unqualified to drive their taxis and breaking every traffic law known to man.  Of course, every time that they stopped a taxi, they wanted to record it, and instead of submitting a bunch of new reports each time, all they had to do was submit a new report to the existing taxi case file.

Thats a good point. With the amount of usage this program could get, sending mass amounts of queries to the database with regards to reports could create a problem. But i thought about that already. What i have planned to do is, when you fill out a report, the report is not going to be saved to the database, in stead it will input all the information that you entered into a report that will be created by the program. It will then give you the option to save it to your computer, where you can then upload it elsewhere, or you can print it off. Either way, its not going to so resource intensive to cause problems.
