One Ugly Truck

It's too overly streamlined for that - I'd say a lorry and an ICE3 had freaky... er, "relations"... and this came about.

<Offtopic> I want that cruiser in GTA4 now. </offtopic>

I'd like to see walmart get their drivers to drive that fugly truck.

  • It looked like someone drove a 18-wheeler into the back of a supercar, and just welded them together.

I have to give Walmart credit for trying to drive down how much fuel they burn, and normally I try to give companies credit for creating innovative solutions.  However, even I must admit that the design just isn't quite right (that's a nice way of putting it).  The new engine technology is quite nice from what I've heard but they should spend some more time on the design aspect.  "Greener" vehicles don't have to be as ugly as the inside of a dead cow, in fact many look quite nice.

I really liked that Freightliner's interior, seemed like a nice and futuristic concept. However, I really hate the looks (of both of them). They could really need some work on the exterior.

I really like the innovation in these trucks, regardless of how it looks. Really, what we think looks good is relative. We base what's good-looking and not on what we've seen. Since this is something we haven't seen before, everyone immediately thinks it's ugly.

One issue that I don't think was addressed in either video is safety. The Wal-Mart truck didn't look like it had any safety features on it, aside from increased visibility. I've never driven a real semi (I'm guessing 18 Wheels of Steel and Euro Truck Simulator don't count), but wouldn't making the trailers lighter cause overturning problems? Trucks already get blown around from the wind on wide open highways, wouldn't making them lighter cause that to be worse? The trailer didn't really look like it was developed to be aerodynamic from the sides, only from the front.
