Curious about the split (black/clear) windshield?

Featured Replies

Probably a dumb question but why do modders create a windshield that's split with a black shade? It's hard as hell to see when in-car camera mode? Just don't understand why someone would want the blur to a point where you cant really even see what's in front of you when you're going fast? I've seen so many good cars made but then I canceled them out of my game when I realized the annoying split with blur? Even some modded cars have full tainted windows all round and still see find with no problem?Just hate to cancel a great model car due to a windshield split that's really annoying to the eyes?

And I don't wanna sound rude in anyway. Just frustrated not being able to used awesome modded cars due to this blurry windshield.  Sorry about the rant but it finally got to me LOL

Trust me, the modders don't create it like that, what police cruiser are you driving? If it's a crown vic it'll only work like that in POLICE2 and FBI by default.

I personally use a first person mod specifically for the car to get rid of that problem.

Additionally, you could edit the file that's responsible for that (forgot the name offhand) and just copy POLICE2 into other slots.

The file you are takling about is vehOff.csv.

Cheers.

What I did is just replace the glasswindow2 (or something like that) with a blank transparent copy from paint.net. Unfortunately, it makes your windows look invisible, but you never have the issue. I used to use the first person mod but my cars (especially the suburban) would always spin around. The best idea out of all of them is to edit the vehoff.csv. Do some reading and find out which one shoves you forward a bit. Its all a pain in the neck, but night driving wont be as hazardous. And most definitely make a back up of vehoff.

If you do end up editing the CSV I believe the line you're looking for is this:

VEHICLE police FIELD BONNET_FWD POS -0.035156 0.684204 0.600242 ANGLES -0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 FOV 72.000000
Roughly line 1,462. Presumed POS X Y Z but I haven't checked.

EDIT: TRy these values:

VEHICLE police FIELD BONNET_FWD POS -0.035156 0.984204 0.600242 ANGLES -0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 FOV 72.000000
May work, may not - GTA4 seems to be inconsistent on which axis is X, Y, and Z.
