Which gun..

Featured Replies

Already so as a reward for a certain thing I am able to get any gun I want...but I cant decide!! Ive really been wanting a glock but now that I actually have the chance I don't want it as much?? Any suggestions, I want a side arm for hunting but if there is a really good gun please post a link to a discussion or reviews :).

Okay first off if the gun is going to be a side arm when hunting (this is coming from a avid hunter) You want something that is at least a .40cal. Because anything smaller will just piss a bear or wolf off.

May I recommend a few:

.357 (magnum) This is what I carry its very loud but its really powerful. I once ran into a bear when walking and I just shot this in the air and it ran away.

Sig p226 .40 cal (Really good gun really accurate ((most police departments carry this gun glocks are getting faded out)))

1911 .45 another really nice gun its been perfected over 100 years of work. I love this gun can't wait to buy one my self has a really nice grip on it and it handles really well.

Also if I were you I would look into a concealed carry version where the safety it on the grip and on the trigger. So it has dual safety because both need to be pressed down for it to engage.

If you haven't done much shooting I don't recommend the .357 cause holding that thing wrong will kick you in the face. So if you are new with handguns get the SIG p226. Its a very good gun light weight has a good bang and little recoil. Honestly I can see why this is the best selling pistol for the Police and Military and civilians

You've been Rick Rolled[/spoiler]

I have a 1911 as my personal carry gun. However, my department uses Glock 40s, both are very reliable guns. The glock will fire in damn near any condition and I've heard of guys that havent cleaning it in years and it still fires. I personally would get a 1911, I have a Remington R1 enhanced stainless steel. It's sorta expensive but its a beauty to look at and shoot. i've gotten many compliments because of it.

It's a tough decision. But, I think you should get yourself a good 'ol 1911 ;)  If you don't like it for some reason then I'm in for a P226.

Good luck with finding the gun you're looking for :)

My dad carried a .44 Magnum Colt Anaconda as his concealed, my grandpa carried his 1911 from Korea. I've personally always wanted either a 1911 or a Walther PPK. But that's just me. Walther just came out with a .22 PPK, so ammo is a little easier to find.

Glock 32 or a 33. .357 Sig far surpasses any other semi-automatic handgun round in terms of ballistics, and with a barrel swap, you can shoot .40 to save money (just be sure to swap the barrels back before loading the wrong ammo). Or you could get a 22 or a 23 and get the .357 sig barrel.

Sticks and stones may break bones, but 5.56 fragments on impact.

Thanks will look into it

If you want it as a backup for hunting, I would go with a larger caliber like a .45 or 10mm.  I only stay 10mm because I have heard that it is one of the best calibers for a hunting backup (not really sure why) but the ammo can also be rather hard to find and somewhat expensive if you plan on shooting a lot.  If you DO want a Glock, they have pretty much every caliber you would want available.  I have a Glock myself, and I love it, and I have heard a lot of good things about Sig Sauers, but I've also heard they have a very strange trigger pull which some people like, some don't.  I would recommend shooting some of each before you buy one.

Overall, if your main purpose for it is a hunting backup, I would recommend a .45 1911, but it also depends on what you're hunting...    You wouldn't want the same gun for hunting rabbits as you would for hunting bears.

Also, you're not going to want a compact handgun like a Glock 19/23 for hunting...

Check ammo supplies around you before you buy.  Here in SE Michigan, you can't find anything other than .40 in stock anywhere without looking pretty damn hard.

Hunting bear, deer, and small game and ducks also.. Mainly for stuff like snakes and ik ik it would kill a bear but if I put a full mag in its face with a 40cal. plus my shotgun shells it will do it
