Game crashes ALWAYS when I aim at a driver and press E

As soon as I aim at any driver in a vehicle and press E, the game crashes immediately.
I don't use any custom models or custom cars.

Let's see what we can do. First off, it's very important that you read the following two threads. This: ?do=embed#entry204057'' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> and this '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>

It's also important that you answer all of these questions: Legal copy of the game? Running the game as administrator? Latest patch? What other mods are you using? What operating system are you using (Windows XP is NOT supported)? Make sure that LCPDFR 0.95 is removed (http://www.lcpdfr.com/page/tutorials/index.action/_/script-data-file-modification-tutorials/how-to-uninstall-lcpdfr-r19).

Also, please install these

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30653

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5549 (If you haven’t updated GFWL, use this).

Running the game as administrator: Go to the GTA IV folder, right click on GTAIV.exe, Properties, Compatibility and select 'Run this program as administrator', do the same exact thing to the LaunchGTAIV.exe.

1. I have read through all those threads and nothing fits.

2. All additional components you listed are installed. Moreover I did an automatic installation of LCPDFR and I saw that component installation window marked all as ok.

3. LCPDFR 0.95 is completely uninstalled. I double checked with the guide you gave me a link to.

4. I run the game as administrator.

5. DEP is off

6. I posted my computer's specs above.

7. I run the following mods (all are the latest versions):

- AnyTaxiScript (yes the one from the .net scripthook's developer examples)

- EmergencyRecover (http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/emergency-recover-f22756 )

- Havoc! (http://www.gta4-mods.com/script/havoc-f22844 )

- Policing

- PTS ( http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/person-transport-service-f21639 )

- SpartanFist

- TrafficFlow

- UndertakerService ( http://www.gta4-mods.com/script/undertaker-service-f22062 )

- vdH_MedicalExaminer

- vdH_PoliceHelper

- vdH_TowService

8. The 4 mods which I wrote myself (EmergencyRecover, Havoc!, PTS, UndertakerService) only get active by certain key strokes and E is not one of them. So I don't think they conflict.

I refuse to face defeat! Last thing I can recommend is to reinstall all dependencies and/or reinstall GTA IV. I, myself, cannot see anything wrong in the log files other than the usual errors. I'll take a extra look, just in case.

What? You know what a daunting task that is? I replaced the Blista with the Rhapsody, replaced the Bobber with TLAD's innovation bike, replaced the Slamvan (I play TBOGT) with the tow truck from TLAD. I have the realistic driving modification installed.

No way will I do all that again! It would cost me a whole day and most likely it would be of no benefit.
I'd rather resign from LCPDFR 1.0 and go back to 0.95rc!

Thanks to the policing script I can achieve the same result with aiming and Alt+F.

I set myself to "busy" mode and just cared for the policing events. That gave me hours of crash-free gameplay at last.

Oh btw, the "busy" messages are wrong. When I press F7 I get the message "you are no longer busy and you will receive callouts" but that's the state where I DON'T get callouts and vice versa.

Thank you Osopoderoso. It's also beyond my understanding how this bug made it completely unrecognized through beta. It's dead simple to reproduce:

- Activate LCPDFR

- force duty

- aim with the pistol at the next available driver

- keep on aiming and press E - BAAM!

Now I would be half-way happy if someone of the team would come here and admit that it's a bug and that they have it somewhere on top of their backlog - instead of just denying it.

Well Cyron43, your issue is not LCPDFR related, so nothing for us to reproduce. You just have a bad setup, we can't do anything about it.

Please do not PM me unless really necessary (knowing you helps). If you think you need my attention in a topic, tag me.

So you tried to reproduce this error but everything's running fine at your end?

How can a clean setup be bad? I don't understand this. Maybe you mean the hardware setup? Do you mean we should buy new hardware? Which one then?

I too had that error, crashing while targeting ped in a car, but mine was the "freval_77" error.  Every time I would try and have the ped get out of the car by targeting ped + E my game crashed.

I removed almost all scripts (only kept Police Helper, Tow Mod and coroner mod), reverted modded cars to original (police only, kept my civi mods installed), reinstalled Scripthook, removed MY_COP cop ped mods, No ENB, and reinstalled xlive.  Also reduced a few in-game settings (no shadows, low water quality, lowered distance and car density also to 17).

After that my crashes stopped when targeting peds while they are in the car (aim + E).  I still get the random crashing after an hour or two, from time-to-time, but the game is now very playable.

Just try and mess around with your settings and install.  Probably something in your setup/install causing issue.

Good luck!

THE E key erroris lcpdfr noting els i promise what i dont know wbut it has to do with the what ever happen when u push then when you get options like hold e for more option or just hit e to arrest i also crash many times trying to aresst some one waill holding a gun and looking at the person i wanted to aresset or look into and bam e does in fact crash the game and its not gta 4and ist not people pcs so its pretty easy to figure out what it is simple 2-3 + 1 see how easy that is so your not alone there is a issue with the E key on the mod end of story

That's exactly what I mean. I really wish I could help you or other who are having issues, but the build we published was working fine without any kind of crashes within hours on my PC and the tester PCs. So fixing bugs we don't encounter ourselves is a big challenge.

And yes, I was referring to hardware. The number one reason for crashes is because, well because the port of IV sucks. But we can't change that and better hardware makes the game life longer. All these issues were things could not be spawned etc. can be reduced to a minimum on a non-modded game copy with a strong PC. Now it wouldn't be IV, if it were to crash even for some people on high end setups, I know... but that's all I can tell you. You may share your specs here so we can see what might be a good idea to upgrade.

Hello there,

I was wondering what your hardware set-up is and which OS you're playing LCPDFR.

I have did everything software-wise to optimize GTA4, and I am in process of upgrading my hardware and just upgraded my 4GB 1333 to a 8GB XMP 1600.

Wednesday I will be trading my Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 GDDR3 OC to a 280x. The remaining part will be !5-3330 @ 3350GHz.

Still I get random crashes and the strange part is, my FPS is above 30 now and sometimes it drops, but usually crashes occured when the fps went below 10.

I am going to play one more round and then I will open a thread.

That's exactly what I mean. I really wish I could help you or other who are having issues, but the build we published was working fine without any kind of crashes within hours on my PC and the tester PCs. So fixing bugs we don't encounter ourselves is a big challenge.

Hello there,

I was wondering what your hardware set-up is and which OS you're playing LCPDFR.

Most of testing was done on my already 3 year old (except for the SSD) dev machine with the following specs:

GTX 570 1280MB VRAM

AMD 1090T 6 @ 3,8GHz

16GB G.SKILL F3 12800CL7 @ 1600MHz

256GB SAMSUNG 840 PRO SERIES SSD

Note that while I ran that system on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 I had no absolutely no crashes, no SMPA60, nothing. When I upgraded to Windows 8 at some point last year, it got a little worse and I might get a SMPA60 every two hours or so. Also I noticed on Windows 8 that the taxi bug occurs much more frequent. The system is pretty outdated, but it runs EFLC just fine with everything maxed out. However, if you check the forums, there are people with much better PCs who have problems with excessive FPS drops etc, the game is not optimized very well. That's all I can share.

But I posted the specs with the initial post already. What else do you need?  :ermm:

Not really, you mentioned you have an I5 CPU (which one?), 8 GB RAM (speed?) and a 6800 Radeon GPU (which one?). From the first look your system looks okay, but more precise specs would be better. You can always try lowering your settings and see if that reduces crashing.
