Battlefield 4 opinion

Recommended Posts

Also I mentioned the AK-12 since first of all, it's a crappy useless gun in game, or if every other gun is like that in the game, then that just shows how bad the variety is, and it just proves I doN't want to play with it no more. The other thing is, the US army would never ever use a freaking AK as a standard weapon, nor would the chinese, but I could give 2 fucks (pardon my french) about the chinese.

The AK-12 is a great gun, you must not of learnt how to use it yet. I admit, I don't like how all the factions start with the same gun, but at-least it's fair that way. I suggest you try out hardcore mode, it's a hell of a lot more fun and less bullshit since you can drop enemies quicker.

I am using hardcore mode, and I even tried to filter the server like, putting the damage to 110% or above, but it found no server like that, so I assume even on HC mode it takes the very same amount of bullets to kill some1. It was on hardcore mode where I shot the guy in the chest with a sniper, and he didn't die.

I truly hope at least they'll try to fix it.

You have much less health in hardcore (50-60% instead of 100%), so it should take less bullets to kill. Your health also won't regenerate unless you're standing on a medic kit so a majority of players will have less than full health. I know how frustrating it is when you shoot someone and they just won't die though. Try playing with some friends, that way even if the game is BS at-least it's fun. I played for about an hour last night on a pistols only server with 4 of my friends all in a squad and we had a great time. I think the thing with Battlefield is that you need to play it with friends otherwise it's no fun.

Agreed, the AK-12 is a great gun to start off with.

And even though I also agree that having American and Chinese soldiers start with a Russian weapon isn't realistic, it's basically like that in every other online shooter. In Call of Duty, for example, before you can use the weapons you've unlocked - before it's even possible to unlock weapons -, you have to choose a predefined class, so you may end up using a UMP-45 (MW2), which is neither used by the Rangers, nor the Russian paratroopers.

You'd be a terrible video game reviewer, I'm glad you're not in that line of work. Put some actual time into the game. You can easily get your ass kicked in a public server 3 times, so it would be easy to blame the weapons or mechanics or whatever other excuse you want to come up with. You're not qualified to judge anything based on three multiplayer matches and without even finishing the simple 6 hours single player. The single player is short, but it's like that with all big name shooters now. And BF3 was a good formula so they simply followed it and improved it slightly. Call of Duty does the same thing every year, and they break sales records each time. EA's doing what comes natural to game publishers. Following up on their hits.

Lucky for you I ain't a video game reviewer... :teehee:

Ok, so I took your advice to try it out even more (LOL).... And, what can I say?

I feel bad for not even giving this game a try. I've always loved and played Battlefield, I just thought that it was going to be bad because a lot of people said so... Anyways I stayed up all night just to play it and it was really fun. Time really flew by.

I'd give it a 4/5. The only reason why it got a 4 instead of a 5 is because of the singe player. Other than that I love it.

They've also added some Swedish weapons (like the older battlefields used to have). Which makes me happy, and I can't wait to unlock the AK5C.

Thanks for making me go back to BF4.:yes:

All the Battlefield storylines after Bad Company 2:

I agree. I loved Bad Company 2, from the singleplayer story (hella enjoyable imho) to the multiplayer. I have good memories of playing it with my best friend, creating our tactics and such. I actually enjoyed that game more than BF3.

Regarding BF4, I haven't played it and I won't purchase it as long as this bullshit of DLC policy continues. It's enough of paying more for crap that should be included in the main release.

Honestly, although the quality of the series has downgraded recently, I still enjoy playing BF4. I play it on the PS3. The thing that really annoys me though is the amount of glitches / bugs in multiplayer I've seen. One example, the weapon drops you find in some areas of the map it says Hold down [Triangle] to pick up. You hold it down, and you end up dropping it. You've gotta do it at least twice for it to work. The SP campaign was way too short. Another thing I don't like is on the map Operation Locker (which is really cool by the way) is those annoying gates you can control. Noobs love to run through and close them in front of you, lol. Noobs will be noobs I suppose.

.50 cal barrett to the body = instant kill - 1 point for BF4

.50 cal barrett to the body through a window = hit marker

Ask an actual military sniper about bullet properties some day if you ever meet one. They'll confirm that once a bullet hits glass, it's trajectory is no longer straight, and it is in fact randomized as to where it goes (left, right, up, down, etc). This is especially true of a moving target such as a helicopter or a vehicle. That being said, I've been lucky and I've been able to bolt action snipe helicopter pilots through their windows in game before.

apparently if you stand behind a window you can survive a round that goes through light armor, and just about any wall you can throw at it. Also about this so called bullet penetration, if you shoot at a wall with a tank round, no matter what round it is, the whole wall collapses, which is nice and all, however noone behind it will ever die, so that's another bad mark for BF.

Depends on the thickness of the wall and/or what it's made of. You'll generally kill people in houses made of wood or sheet metal, but not concrete.

As for the netcode, we explained that here in the thread I think enough times, that it is not our connection, since we get good pings. It's just simply bad, period.

I never said anything about ping. If you go re-read my section, I explain packet loss and network smoothing which is a setting you should try to fiddle with to improve your hit boxes and latency.

Weapons in this game are not faction dependent. In BF4, you can use any gun in any army, so long as you're the same class. It's the same way in Call of Duty. The AK12 is a starter gun, it's not going to be the strongest. You have to earn the better ones. The AK-12 isn't all that bad though, I earned weapons after the AK-12 that I liked less. I prefer either the AEK-971 the new IMI Galil (the last weapon you earn, it's called something else, I forget what) and the M416. The AK-12 behaves in this game pretty similarly to what it would act like in real life. AK's aren't for ham-fisted players who hold down the left mouse button and figure it will kill someone if they hold it down long enough. They have larger rounds that produce a lot of recoil, so they need to be fired in short bursts, and are better at close range. The M416 or the IMI Galil sequel would probably be better for you if you need to hold down the trigger. Or better yet, play support instead and use the M249 SAW, which is a gun you get for free after finishing single player. That works fine without bursting.

Regarding the AK-12, the Chinese very well could use it. Russia is a former communist country, and is still a large producer of arms for 2nd and 3rd world countries all over the globe. China is still under communist rule, and is actually better "friends" with them than they are with us. So beyond producing their own weapons, it is conceivable they could order AK-12's for their military if they're good enough. You won't see the U.S. using them, though.

I'd give it a 4/5

No problem, I'm glad you gave it some more time. Assessments nay-sayers are giving on here are somewhat fair. But websites like IGN or Gamespot put a decent chunk of time into a game before putting our a review so they can get a genuine feel for the game and be fair in judging its content. BF4 has frustrated me before too, almost to the point of me saying I'd never play shooters again. Other times it's a blast. And it was those good times that have made me purchase Premium for it. I like the formula they have going, no way around it.

Like I said, I won't let this thread turn into a flame war, so I'll only tell you that you are very wrong about the weapon ballistics you mentioned. I actually do a lot of research before making an opinion on such matter.

Hit boxes cannot be improved, hit boxes are made by the game developers when they make the game. It tells the game which part of the body was hit (if it was hit), and what damage model it should use. For example a head hit box would be an invisible mesh thing on the head, which if it gets hit, it should give a lot bigger damage then a normal body shot. If you could modify that, that'd mean you could gain an incredibly huge advantage over other players.

I think I might just start to list the problems I have with BF4 in the first post, and I'll see which ones will be improved over the coming weeks/months/?years?

lol that's kind of funny. I wonder why would they ban it there. Also I updated my first post here if anyone is interested, I think I may expand it even further if I come across some other bugs. This game for me is now dead.

According to the Chinese government it is a "Danger to national security."

I meant hit registration when it comes to changing the network smoothing setting. And the hit boxes can be changed at will by the developers. It happened in Counter Strike: Source and supposedly there is talk about it happening in BF4. Time will tell. In the mean time, play more and learn how the game engine works, or you can always call it quits and move on to a different shooter.
