I use a program called DS3 tool ,with it I can fool my computer to think a dual shock is an xbox controller. you might want to try it out.

Thank you so much for such a unique and fun twist on the sand box genre, I had GTA on the PS3 for years, but once I stumbled on this mod on YouTube I dropped everything and bought the game on pc just for this.

The only reason we're including XBOX controller support is because GTA IV natively supports the XBox 360 controller.

Not sure exactly, I think it is because it is a Games for Windows Live title, pretty much all Games for WIndows Live games are XBOX 360 ports and so I guess they leave the XBOX 360 controller support in, or perhaps that's a requirement for Games for WIndows Live.

Oh right, of course - GTA IV is a Windows Live game, pretty much forgot.

Go buy a XBOX controller. Made by afterglow they are fully compatible and are dirt cheap. They are only $25 where im at and everyone knows if you can afford to buy a PC that runs GTAIV you can afford a controller. And if not that's fine to there is always a keyboard.
